I used a Curt T harness to tap into the Reverse line of the towing circuit when I installed my KC Reverse Lights in 2019. There have been no issues with the computer doing it that way.The quoted info is direct from Oracle customer service regarding the BCM shutting down. Perhaps it is only some LED models, perhaps only something with TAZER but either way they (and my experience) say it doesn't always work. Just something to be aware of for those considering purchase. I would say go 7-pin as customer service "guarantees" this will work. Can't speak from personal experience as I've been waiting to receive it since January.
The Oracle Reverse Lights appear to be a good option. One of my concerns has been with the computer and the additional draw from using the harness to connect the lights to the tail light Reverse line. It seems to be an issue that only affects some installations.
I have the Oracle lights and towing adapter in the cart. I'm going to wait until the 17th to decide on ordering. In the meantime, I ordered the metal plates from eBay, and some red reflective tape and two surface mount lights from Amazon. I'm going to experiment to see if I can come up with something acceptable to replace the KC lights that mount below the bumper.
