I’m on the “get a JL” train, here, too. That’s a lot more money for very little more space over a JL. No covers or racks will fit it so it’s not just smaller. It’s also less functional. Just get a JL and a trailer if you need a bed. It’ll be cheaper and have more space. And no unexpected surprises from such an invasive mod.

Looks kind of cool. I get it in theory.

I love this look!

Had my old Hilux bobbed like that.

I'd also consider a custom bed like the PCOR or a Mits.

And get a trailer for carrying wood...........

I am happy with my 5' bed but love this! I would have been in line on day 1 if it would have had the shorter bed.

On the banned site, they trimmed the bed along the line at the bottom where the bed sliders go. That’s about a 4” nip/tuck along with a high and tight rear bumper. Doesn’t improve the departure as much as this bob, but does keep the bed volume the same. They have a video of it.

gents where is the vision here ? the chop keeps the wheelbase and short cab (relative to the JLU at least) and I thought looked really cool. The plywood would stick out and racks could be an issue or the RTTs lol.
The Gladiators wheelbase is nearly 20 inches longer than the JLU. No real comparison. The wheelbase is more a limiting factor than departure angle with the JT. While interesting, a bed bob is really more of a novelty/niche that some could do.

I like it, I can definitely see the use case.

If you want do more rock crawling and still have a pick up bed this definitely works. It's definitely not the same as a JL.

I've never run a tonneau cover or cap so that wouldn't bother me. You could still use a bed rack and have a RTT if you wanted. Honestly, if my gladiator was a second vehicle, I've thought about doing exactly the same thing.

Why would you want to retain the long wheelbase if you can use the shorter JL wheelbase? The long wheelbase limits the JT's capability relative to the JL, so you'd be better off with the JL platform.
