I like my amp research rock slide electric steps. Mom is 94 and gets out and in easily. Once folded up they make a solid steel slide.

I'm a noobie to da Jeep world and looking for da Best Combo Rock Slider Rail and Step. The Rock Slider should provide the best under carriage and body-weld protection combined with a Step for easy entry and exit, preferably light weight and non-protruding -> so it won't get stuck on rocks. So far the one that I have found is da one below:

RockHard 4x4 Patriot series Tube Slider Rock Guards Angled Up for Gladiator JT 2020 ( RH-80104)

https://www.rockhard4x4.com/product_p/rh-80104.htm

RockHard told me each of these Rock Slider Rails weighs 65 lbs. I am concerned about watching my weight and the weight I put on.

So let me know if you have any other recommendations for da Best Combo Rock Slider Rail and Step.

Mil Gracias! :fist bump:
Brian
I didn't like the weight either, but proper sliders weigh. And if you have a Rubicon, which I do, you can subtract the stock weights. I went angled down as I am running 37s with the Mopar 2" lift. They make great steps that way and are still far from the lowest point on the truck.

They are super well made and the mounting is way better than stock. I have slid over a couple rocks and logs on them with no real damage to the sliders or body. Non-skid is a must if you use them as steps. I used 3" and it is holding up really well.

Anyone have feedback on CBI Off-road sliders? Body and frame mounted.

who makes bare rock sliders? I don't want powder coating at all, seems like the worst application possible, something designed to get scraped to hell has a coating on it that is impossible to touch up or repair or redo at home. Whose got bare steel sliders that function as a step? No nerf bars, no powered steps, just a tube than can function as a step.

Really really wish Motobilt would come out with the JT equivelant already

How have you found the elevation and placement of the steps. My wife is short and not much into acrobatics. I’m looking for something easy to use and help her get in and out without hospital visits involved.
Placement is good. My wife is 5"2" and no complaints until I remove them when we go out on trails. She steps up on the step and slides in. Trust me!!! you want to remove these if you go out in rocks. I did a rather hazardous drop and banged up both on the passenger side. Pretty hard slam and they bent. $100 a set of 2 to replace.... I would say om most easy to medium trails you wont have to remove them but if theres a chance you will hit hard section ...well! (that was what happened to me) pulling them or putting them on is only a few mins.

Thanks for the information. My main concern is if they are designed well to help entering and exiting the vehicle. My wife is 5'3" so close to the same height. I have the Mopar lift on my Gladiator. I like the RKR as you can remove the step. i am not a rock crawling type of off roader so the RKR should work for me in most situations. Again thanks for the information.

Yea, I have the Mopar Lift on mine and now with 35's. Good luck on your decision.

Liquor Attorney. So not all bad...
I've now spent months spinning myself into rock slider step oblivion, and have come up with a few options (I've now eliminated the ROAM and LOD options as neither one seems close to market). I don't do a ton of offroading, and when I do it's not extreme. I care about 3 things really:

Protection from flying debris coming from road and minor offroad protection of rocks

Flow of the body (the body is slightly rounded on the sides of the gladiator, so I'd like it to follow the form) - This one I haven't heard talked about much, so anyone who has feedback on the below options feel free to chime in!

Lower stepping point for the boss of the house (can barely get in now, but will be completely unable to when I go to 37's and a 3.5 jks lift)

RSE - https://www.quadratec.com/p/rock-slide-engineering/step-slider-kit-jeep-gladiator-jt - $2200 - If you want to pull the trigger and money not an option, these are really nice in person, provide protection and the drop step. I can't do that price on rails, but some people can.

Ace - https://aceengineeringandfab.com/collections/gladiator/products/ace-jt-gladiator-rock-sliders - $700 - Similar to Rock Hard Angled up in look. They lost me because I wanted to sell the existing rock rails to recoup costs, and I just don't like the look of them without the stock rails. Nice setup if you're keeping the existing rail.

Rock Hard Angled Down - https://www.rockhard4x4.com/product_p/rh-80106.htm - $650 - Sturdy, well made, cover pinch seams completely, but worried about slippage on the pipe (can be rectified by putting skid tape, but I would rather not modify a modification)

Body Armor - https://www.bodyarmor4x4.com/product/jt-rock-crawler-steps/ - $375 - Newer, cheaper, but have yet to see a pic of them on a JT, and at that price point I'm reluctant that it's too cheap. Would love feedback on these but right now, I'm not going to be the guinea pig.

Mopar Extended Performance - $1k (850 with 15% off?) - well built, good looking step that's close to factory, but not a huge drop and my wife is super short. Unsure if it will actually serve it's purpose at current height.

Road Armor - https://www.quadratec.com/p/road-armor/stealth-running-board-steps-gladiator-jt-520stp4b - $1172 - Really nice looking step, but their thickness and lack of ability to carry weight (250 Lbs load rating seems miniscule) makes me wonder if this is just a step with minimal protection. At that price point, seems weird to not provide both.

So at this point, I continue to wait, while funneling my rail funds toward other things. If I had a gun to my head, I'd buy the rock hards angled down for a better step, with a close 2nd being the Mopar.
I looked at all of this too separately. I ordered the RockHard 4x4 angled down. I'm OK adding grip tape (mod to a mod) because I eventually plan on applying DIY bedliner to all but the lowest and outside surface of the rail. That section is just going to paint and TLC every time I scratch it. Think of it as a sacrificial surface.

My off-roading is mostly a side effect of my other hobbies (remote fishing and hunting, stupidity, stubbornness, laziness etc) e.g. mostly muddy trails with deep ruts and some unintended cross country in farm country. I don't crawl over boulders but do crawl over a fair number of logs (if I forgot my chainsaw ? ). The RockHards will protect me from 99% of what most people to, while being easy on the wallet and nice to look at. With the angled down I get a bit (not much, but enough) of a step for my fat ass and my very short and petit wife (she's the one who called me a fat ass - not body shaming ANYONE else here I promise ?)) and extra door protection at the mall...

This thread has been great to figure out what I want. I had the Rock Slide Engineering Sliders on my '19 JLUR that I just unloaded for a '21 JTM. They are great steps, but big bucks. I added the LED lights and individual on off switches. I loved them, my wife hated them. Probably because she got her shin wacked the first time she opened the door and couldn't get over it after that. I am waffling back and forth between the ACE Slider and the Rock Hard Angled Down Slider.

I've had Ace on three Jeeps now, highly recommend them. I re-shopped sliders for the JT, and came right back to Ace. Look awesome, just the right angle, useful for a step without being excessive, and have survived a lot of usage as a pivot point and slider against boulders.
