I’m not liking for more power, noise, or anything like that, just the most effective filter that people have found.

I spend a lot of time in very dusty conditions and I don’t feel like the factory filter does a good enough job of removing the super fine moon dust we have here.

Has anyone found a better alternative? I’d put on a snorkel with a cyclonic top but no one makes on that fits the Mojave.

Looks like Hauk Offroad offers a snorkel for the diesel now.

Fellow desert dweller as well, so I feel your pain. I went with the AEV snorkel, SyKlone precleaner, then aFe Power Filter. This combination thus far has worked well for me, and I think the precleaner makes the biggest difference.

The Mojave has the Pentastar, not the diesel. The issue for snorkels is the different hood and cowl, both of which are taller than all the other models. 😕

Some snorkels have an intake filter, that filter particulates prior to it coming into the regular air filter. The one I saw looked like a knob, round on top and it sucked air in from below.

K&N filters flow more air, and thus filter less than the stock paper filter. With an oiled filter I’d be cleaning and re oiling it multiple times in a weekend.

Yes, as mentioned above that’s what I’d love to do, but it’s not an option on the Mojave.

If better filtration is what you seek, K&N is the worst possible thing you could do ... You will flow more fine dust through your engine then ever ...

You might do well to look for a foam based filter ... More restrictive but filter better ...

There is no such thing as a filter that flows more air and filters better ...

AFE dry flow filter has worked well for me. Just cleaned it last month after 20k. I carry a stock filter on road trips too. If I find the backroad im on is super dusty, I will take the 5 mins to switch it out. Havent had to yet but still carry it.

So very true, there are a number of great videos out there that show just how much material a K&N lets through.

I love this guy "Project Farm"

Purolator and Wix came out on top, K&N failed miserably...

I have used oiled element filters in the past, and they simply do not filter as well as the stock type filter. I went through a lot of that dust/powder while hunting recently, and simply blew off the engine with an air hose, and replaced the stock filter with another Mopar stock filter.

Don't the oiled filters also gum up sensors? Could be an outdated datapoint. K&N is for very specific purposes, and something you want to last any amount of time isn't it.

I've tended toward the higher end Wix line when available. I think it's called XP.

Sounds like I'll just need to buy a stack of OEM (or similar) filters for now.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a snorkel option that works on the Mojave. Maybe this winter I'll see if I can rig something up myself.

Best way to remove the moon dust is the aforementioned precleaner.
With OEM or better(Wix, purolator) filters

Oiled filters are crap. An oily dusty residue coats your IAT sensor and throttle blade and inner surfaces of the intake. Been there done that. Learned that the hard way
