I'm appreciating this thread - thank you all. I too struggle with poor visibility in reverse, esp when there is dust or debris on the camera (they should have added the 'wash camera' feature to the rear camera as well). Anyway, considered Tazr to kill the license plate lights, but for $300+, was an expensive option as I don't anticipate using much of any of the other features it offers.
I just ordered the Oracle reverse lights with a plan to wire them to the aux switch (gotta use these switches for something!).
This idea of adding a relay or something to kill the license plate lights in reverse is great. If anyone has a detailed step by step guide on how to do this, I'd have the wombo-combo with Oracle option plus no license plate lights in reverse.
