Might work, but it sure is in a vulnerable area! Try it and let us know how it works out.Except that the factory oil cooler is water cooled with the radiator....which is usually heating your oil. Separating it to an outside cooler with vans would help ALOT and take the load off the radiator cooling. Did you see the bumper I posted above with a large lower skid plate? That does hang low but the skidplate and lower frame horns would protect it. You could possibly carry a bypass hose in case of trail damage?
