Any motor will go in any car if you spend enough money…the basics: engine motor mounts will need to be changed and relocate on the frame. How much sheet metal will have to be removed for the new motor to fit in the engine bay. How many components will have to be relocoated to somewhere else in the eng bay. ECM flashing and wiring harness compatibility. New radiator. Don’t forget a brake upgrade, more speed. Transfer case fit and compatibility with new motor.

Like others have said it will work but I think some states require you to have an engine the same year or newer than vehicle it’s going in.

Here is engine im asking about
https://www.mopargenuineparts.com/sku/68303088aa.html

If not, why not?
I've seen people put V8s into 1960 Ramblers - and if anyone here is old enough to remember those, then you know almost anything is possible.
But - like already said, depending on your emissions laws, it may not be street legal.
In some places you can only put newer engines into vehicles, not older, due to emissions issues.
2016 is 6 years older than your JT. 2016 is the first model year for the PUG engine in your Gladiator.

But if you are looking at this at all - I'd suggest, based on everything else seen lately, you totally bought the wrong vehicle and should buy something bigger, and able to handle your abuse.
You'll be ticked when things keep breaking and no one out there will be able to work on it because it's hodge-podge of parts.
It will be a Frankengladiator.

You'll need a different transmission - but then you already do from the sounds of it, different springs due to the weight, if you have the aluminum steering knuckles, you'll need the steel knuckles, among a list of other things already mentioned.

In the states there are companies that do hemi swaps - but they know exactly what they are doing, and the cost is about the same as a new truck.

Why not get a truck that will handle your abuse?

He's an Aussie, but I have to think that maybe they are about as strict on that.

I was wrong, Australia has hardly any real emissions laws. I just looked. Their CO2 emissions are way way higher than most "western countries" for private vehicles.
Looks like it's do whatever you want down there.
Also looks like that may be changing in 2025.

Here in Australia, an engine swap from V6 to V8 has to be engineered.
I have no idea if an engineer would allow an earlier manufactured engine unless it does meet existing stadnard?

The main issue is the dodge challenger setup for this engine...what is different between a 5.7 for Challenger vs 5.7 for Ram?

Good question - maybe someone has photos of the whole engine with accessories. In the past, it might have been accessories locations but in these times, to save weight and space, the mounting for "accessories" is cast or forged right into the engine parts.

The ECM must be programmed . There are conversion companies 3 good ones that do put 5.7L in their conversion line ups. I live in a state that I could get away with it. But the motors for the Rams are more compatible as I understand from reading . The power is all done through the ECM . If your Jeep is newer than early 21 Model you will have a hard time doing a conversion on your own. You will need to have a conversion company do it like Exodus for example.
This only my humble opinion and I claim no sense of real knowledge in the matter. Mainly just read on it and listened to these conversion guys. Most actually recommend that if you want them to do the conversion that you go with the 6.4L instead of 5.7L.
