So,

I think I allready know the answer, but just wanted opinions. I think I have some corrosion starting on the hood hinges. It’s minor, but you can see I think where it is starting to chip the paint and looks like it is on the hinge and hood surface. Thoughts and what do you think from the attached pics. Ughhh

Sell it and buy a Bronco. They have no issues.

Otherwise here are other threads.

Thanks, the first two helped a lot. To the dealer it is and hope. Some of those posts looked like nightmares. Ha.

I had the same issue, and I don't have a Bronco. I took mine to a dealer that has a Mopar approved body shop, and they replaced the hood and all of the doors under warranty. Took about 3 weeks or so, and they matched the paint perfectly, looks great. Hope that is useful info? Good luck.

I don't at all like the whitish material I'm seeing or believe I'm seeing in this pictures- looks like aluminum oxide and the edge of the hood hinge? Iffy for sure.
Catch it while still under warranty........

My 2014 JK did the same thing when it was less than year old. I cleaned the area and put two coats of clear coat. It has worked out for the last 11 years.

Yup, that was my main concern, looks like it is just starting at the very edge. I don’t have anything on any of the door hinges or anywhere else, figured I would try and get it nipped right away.

Why not take advantage of the warranty and get new parts?
Our dealer's collision center has had zero come-backs on any repairs they've done. In other words, once they fix it, it doesn't happen again.
If this was out of warranty, then it's every owner for themselves. But he's lost paint adhesion on the hinge, clearly has aluminum oxide at the joint, perhaps under the hinge, and he'd just be hiding/masking it and kicking things down the road.
Obviously, it's his to do whatever he wants with - but under warranty - force Jeep to make it right and cost them the money in labor and parts. Enough claims could force further changes. (or maybe not...........)
Things have changed in the last 10 years - good shops know how to make repairs that last.
That's my take - Jeep's problem, they own it - they fix it.

My dealer was good about corrosion repair and while they repaired similar hood hinge flaking under the 3 year warranty on my JL, they denied the same paint flaking repair under the 5 year warranty for my JT since it wasn't corrosion related.

Wow. The white in his pictures is corrosion.....aluminum oxide for sure.
Maybe in your case they only saw the flaking and no white?

My local Dealership contracts their paint and body work out to a third party. The service writer confirmed that the panels get repaired and not replaced. I'm already getting that disappointment feeling. What could go wrong? Overspray everywhere, the smell paint fumes instead of leather, a botched job and even worse, the corrosion returning is what's going on in my head. How would I be able to find a dealership that has a Mopar certified paint and bodyshop?

I don't know if you can tell from the pics if that's corrosion residue or wax residue. I've only seen posts for non corrosion related paint flaking in that location and others have reported the same corrosion warranty denial.

For mine, you could see the black hinge coating where the paint flaked, so warranty coverage may depend on if there's aluminum or black under the white residue.

Well, definitely not wax, and It goes in this morning so we shall see. The forward part of the hinge you can start to see some small
Bubbling in the paint. I guess I’d rather have it be flaking than the start of corrosion. I’ll just throw on a set of black hinges. I want to find out sooner than later before it starts down the path of some that I have seen.

Jeep Gladiator Corrosion starting jt hood hinge flaking

A few months later when my hood was approved for corrosion warranty replacement, I bought new hinges that they painted and installed along with the new hood.
