Corrosion starting

My local Dealership contracts their paint and body work out to a third party. The service writer confirmed that the panels get repaired and not replaced. I'm already getting that disappointment feeling. What could go wrong? Overspray everywhere, the smell paint fumes instead of leather, a botched job and even worse, the corrosion returning is what's going on in my head. How would I be able to find a dealership that has a Mopar certified paint and bodyshop?

Well, at the dealer now. They sent me to the collision center, and the guy looked at the hinge and went yup, then asked to open my doors, and low and behold we found bubbling and corrosion at the bottom of the doors too. Jesus… didn’t even see that. This guy knows what he is doing and they are now taking pictures and will submit for approval. I will get all new parts Vice trying to fix. He said they have not had an issue with claim denial yet. Couldn’t believe I missed so much in other areas. Check your doors along the bottom under the sealant strip, noticeable bubbling under paint. Crazy

Great news for you!

I found a cdjr dealership ( not near me) that has an in house paint and bodyshop. It's 3 hours there and back. After I bring mine to have them look at it, I'll have to come back at a later date to drop it off. The third trip will be to pick it up, for a total of 9 hours of driving. That is if it all goes well.

Absolutely make the trip. They just finished, all 4 doors, hood, tailgate and hood hinges they are going to replace. He said they have done 40 jeeps so far. I don’t even want to know what that bill would be if not under warranty.

I have only 5 months left on my corrosion warranty. I will make the trip next week. Did they get it approved right away on your first trip? Were you able to lea e it with them or did you have to make an appointment?

I have a life time ding and dent warranty contract. It will not cover corrosion issues or collisions, but maybe hail or shopping cart dents. I never really read that contract

So, they are submitting for approval today, he said we should know by the end of the week. I may be jumping the gun and being all excited, but hopefully there will be no issues. Once approved, he said they will order parts, a week or so, then schedule for repairs which could take another 1-2 weeks since there is a lot to replace. He did state the warranty is 5 years unlimited miles now and apparently extend it once you have a claim. He stated with the replacement parts vice just trying to repair the area, they have t had anyone come back yet. Did have some returns when they just did repairs and not replace the panel. Hopefully I know by end of the week.

They were nice enough but they were only able to give me phone numbers of my nearest dealers. My nearest dealer with a body shop is 1.5 hours away.

Sorry, I thought they directed me to a dealer with a body shop when I called back at the end of May. It could be I was directing them based on my familiarity with local dealers.

I got the ball rolling on my end. I just need to make the first trip so they can start the process and get it approved.

If they are not replacing the door hinges, I would recommend buying a new set yourself if the dealer agrees to use them instead of the old ones. It would be ashamed if after all that work an old hinge fails out of warranty.

Actually not sure, I will have to ask, he did say pretty much everything including hinges, thought maybe just hood though.

Some include hinges, my dealer didn’t because there wasn't any corrosion on them.
