The US has 6x the population of Italy. Simply looking at number of cases is misleading. I would be more concerned that China has 4x the population of the US, yet only 50% more cases.

Of course, those bastage like Russia are not to be trusted on their counts.

I'm sorry, but look it up yourself. CDC says as many as 30,000 people may have died this season alone from FLU. NHTSA says over 30,000 people die annually in car crashes. There is a list of things a mile long that kill more people than COVID-19 has since November world wide.

Until somebody can show me why COVID-19 has only killed 10% as many people as influenza, I refuse to believe that this is worth destroying our economy over. The financial ruin and toll on human lives that is being created by the panic FAR outweighs the danger of the virus itself. Two nights ago, a local man told his family that with his final paycheck, he was going to buy a firearm so he could end this all.

So now we live in dictatorship. The government is telling you if you can go to church or not, if you can shop or not, if you can work for a paycheck or not, if you can go to school or not. Then they say, "but don't worry, WE'LL take care of you." This is the EXACT thing the founders wanted to avoid when they signed the line in 1776. And here we are 244 years later bending over and taking it however the government wants to give it to us. Shame on America.

I realize you do not want this to turn into a political thread, and I agree I'm sick of hearing about politics. But you simply can't talk about COVID-19 without it being political. It's like saying hey guys, let's discuss Jeeps but NO engines, wheels, or tires please! This is not a health crisis. This is another in a long line of scare tactics and self-induced panic and fear. Show me otherwise with numbers and I'll listen. This thing has been going since early winter and hasn't even remotely scratched the surface of what a typical flu season causes.
My thoughts exactly. At least so far our Florida governor has shown some sense in not declaring a statewide lockdown. Left it up to local authorities. By far the majority of cases are in Broward / Miami-Dade.
Here on Marco Island the signs say "Beach parking and pedestrian access closed." [emphasis added]. i.e., the city government can prevent you from parking in a parking lot, or walking down a city-maintained path, but they can't keep you off the beach itself, if you can get there.
Not that I care about going to the beach right now. Just leave my business alone so we can make a living. All five of us.

I'm no expert, so flame away. But for those wanting numbers if we do nothing, here is one source:

The C.D.C.’s scenarios were depicted in terms of percentages of the population. Translated into absolute numbers by independent experts using simple models of how viruses spread, the worst-case figures would be staggering if no actions were taken to slow transmission.

Between 160 million and 214 million people in the United States could be infected over the course of the epidemic, according to a projection that encompasses the range of the four scenarios. That could last months or even over a year, with infections concentrated in shorter periods, staggered across time in different communities, experts said. As many as 200,000 to 1.7 million people could die.

i'm no expert either, but if we do nothing, we're F-ed, if we do a patchwork of actions it could still be bad. Luckily California and NY and Washington State are taking this seriously along with 14 other states.

Luckily the virus dies from heat so Arizona is unaffected (fake news.......:puke:)

Nothing fake about that. We have to worry about the second wave tho. Hoping you all get it figured out by October. This thing travels, so if some tourist sneezes on your face, it's likely going to transmit even at 110 degrees. Nobody knows.

What we do know is, generally speaking, I think it was Col Powell doctrine (Military Bros pls correct this) who said you win a war by assembling an overwhelming force and strategically attack to secure certain victory.

That differs from those business professionals who say, yeah, cut your losses in a time of downsizing.

News said that the -19 virus can live for up to 17 days on a surface, Lysol baby, Lysol concentrate or bleach mixed in water baby. Get cracken Baby !

Think the positive thing about the quarantine is it slows down the spread of the disease & buys manufactures time to make and distribute N95 masks and gowns along with facial shields to health professionals. I doubt the home made masks do much to protect the public. Might as well put on a damp cowboy kerchief .

So if I cough on a butterfly in Wisconsin and it flys to @5JeepsAz 's house in Arizona, does he get Covid-19 if a tree falls in the woods while the Pope is taking a poop When in Rome?

I like to mix and match phrases, chaos theory, philosophical thought experiments, math problems and sayings all into 1 garbled up mess. lol.

I understand some of the light humor on here. But i am currently in a foreign country , deemed essential by my employer and not allowed to leave. My family is safe and ok in California. I have no idea when or if i can even get back to the US now and feel it will only get worse. My work site is safe and no reports yet but i fear the day the first national employee arrives and is tested positive. There will be tanks out front of the housing accommodation and i will be on lock down for months. So how about everyone stay in their house, shop weekly for all you need and lets get through the crap so some of us can come home. Thanks and sorry for killing the humor. I just want to get home to my family and my gladiator ...and enjoy some $2.00 gas.

You're not killing the humor, and I don't intend for my humor to upset anybody either, but without a little bit of normalcy even when quarentined, I think i'll go crazy. Sorry to hear you're stuck somewhere while family is in California. Rest assured I'm trying to encourage anybody that will listen to stay home, for your sake, and mine, and my kids.

Some brush this off as "fake news" blown out of proportion, but its amazing how fast something like this can spread. Our hospital isn't ready for 300-3000 patients all at the same time.

Say safe @pboz

Well here we go, my county, Cabarrus County just recorded NC first 2 deaths related to COVID-19, we just got issued a Stay in Place order. They believe it is community spread because they don't know how either of the two contracted the virus. It's getting real now, my wife went to the Bank to get money out and they said she could not get more than $2000 out, said that to many people were drawing money out and they would not be able to give us the amount we wanted until Friday morning, and that's if we get there early. It looked like a mad house at the bank. This is getting crazy, people are worried about their money and going off the deep end.

I go back to work Monday but this is getting crazy. I heard they were going to stop exchanging cash and that you will have to use debit or credit to make purchases. Not a huge deal, but I know some that only like dealing with cash.
