104 days in the shop for mine. Got it back a week ago. I had one of those stalls due to pump failure out on the trail. My service advisor did note that a recall was coming for the JL/JTs in first quarter 2023. Now, I didn't ask if that was FY or CY, but I am going to assume it's coming. Stellantis has recalled both versions of the CP4 at this point, and are backfitting the CP3 (at least that's what I understand) on the Cummins motors. I am not sure what the "fix" will be for the EcoDiesel, but I can guarantee you that parts will be an issue. For those that haven't had problems, count yourself as lucky. Waited 45 days for a single fuel rail to come in so the truck could be repaired. I have been a firm believer in not using additives in the past, and it worked just fine for me on three other CP4 equipped diesel vehicles. However, I picked the truck up and put additive in it before I even got it home. I love my Gladiator, but I'll be dammed if it strands me and the family again on a trail in the middle of nowhere with no cell service.
I didn't believe in additives in first place until I tried one bottle. The additives really wakes up the motor. Pulls stronger, quieter and better fuel economy. I don't see why not add diesel additives with all these benefits!

They want us to buy more diesel fuel and if they added the additives it’d cost us $10 a gallon

The Bosch CP4 failure is a huge issue on the 2019 and 2020 Cummins 6.7 2500 to 5500. Ford guys will also mention issues with the CP4. Lawsuit will or has been filed. When looking at the JT, knowing this and the track record for the previous VMM Ecodiesel was a hard no. It will be listed as one of the least reliable diesels. But only a few here had that issue? That's not bad. On the plus side when Stellantis decides to cut the Gladiator, probably when this generation ends, I guarantee we will never see another diesel engine in a Jeep again. Diesel JT's will be worth a ton of money at that point. Your aftermarket will be your savior. They have a CP3 replacement for the others. If I had a diesel JT, I'd be setting money aside for a CP3 swap and deleting it once out of warranty. I'm almost always a keep it stock type of guy, but attempting to keep that system in place and working as time goes on will be as effective as pissing in to the wind.

Some good points. I'll probably put around $10K in the slush fund for my JTRD if the CP4 ever blows up and I need to put in a CP3.

That’s when gen 2 ended and gen 3 began and that’s what this is referring to. The parts pertaining to the HPFP failures have remained the same (or at least have the same part number). They will recall the gen 3 when the production line is building new JL/JT that won’t be subject to the recall so they don’t sit idle on dealer lots unable to be sold until they’re repaired

You have to do it before it fails and before the warranty runs out. DO NOT expect the extended warranty to cover that. Chances are it will not because it’s really a service contract and not a real warranty. Per many in the Ram diesel side, got screwed on that.

Don’t quote me but the CP3 swap for the 6.7 Cummins wasn’t all that crazy. Maybe $2k.
If you do a delete best deal is just go to Canada. They have many top reputable diesel shops there and If you can do not buy and ship. That should be under $3k. So $5k would keep you rolling for years. As long as nothing else plagues the ED 3.0.
i had a 2019 2500. I ended up trading in for a 2021 3500 that put something that looks just like a CP3 but isn’t called a CP3. Crazy huh?

on a side note I’m rebuilding a 95 YJ Wrangler with a new crate Cummins 2.8.

funny note, when you buy a diesel powered vehicle you may become a mini expert in that engine with things you end up doing to it. Not as a unecessary mod like most Jeeps get. Kind of like a survivalist knowledge level. I know 5.9 a d 6.7 Cummins. I don’t know squat on Fords and Duramax except they too had CP4. That’s it

ask me if about the fuel pump in my 22 JT 3.6 and I will say “idunno”. But I’ll be able to tell you how to service the EGR, what to look for in the grid heater, what oil, how many gallons and best way to charge that oil filter, best way to change the 2 fuel filters getting the least amount of diesel spilled on you, where and how to get a deleted and best practical work around to register a deleted engine in the Cummins. You know, all the simple stuff about a diesel.

Thanks for this forum and keeping us updated on what to watch out for, given FCA is so poor on informing us.

For what its worth, 32k mi on my '21 JTRD, and no issue yet on CP4 (knock on wood). But I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I can tell you first hand the CP4 is a definite issue on the Jeep eco-diesels. My first went out with 1800 miles, took about a month to fix. Just this week it went out again at 12000 miles, we’ll see what happens now.

Interestingly I did get a letter from Jeep saying that they are aware and know that this part is an issue and that there will be a recall but not to bring it in yet because they are still working on a fix. ?‍♂
