Hello my Rubicon Diesel has 2,800 miles on it and at 2,357 on the odometer i get the message that in 500 miles the engine will not start. I clicked ok while driving and 10 seconds later while I scrolled to the saved message screen, not even a mile down the road, it was already at 480 left.

Added 2.5 gal of DEF the following, ODM was at 2,796 nd was telling me i could drive 100 miles (which in my case really would not be 100 miles).

I added 2.5 gal, DEF tank capacity is 5.1 gal, so this means there was still around 1/4 tank left/1.25 gal... Which should be a lot more than 100 miles! Maybe there is something wrong with the level sensor??

I recall reading the tank should last at least 10,000 miles/between oil changes.

Im 100% sure when i bough the Jeep with 11 miles it showed the DEF tank was full...

Is something wrong? The Jeep has been driven 2,400 of those miles in Denver (5,000ft altitude), or higher. A portion of those on easy trails, no towing (my Cayenne diesel used more DEF when a trailer was connected, even if it was a empty 1,400lb AL trailer, but no where near this much)
I just went through the same thing last weekend at almost exactly 2,800 miles. No towing, no high altitude, no wheeling. It's not a huge deal but manual says should only be every 10,000 miles. Whatever, just bought 20 gallons worth at Home Depot for $73.

I'm on a road trip with a mixture of towing a 17' travel trailer, unloaded touring, and a lot of off road 4x4. 3100 miles and I've burned at least 6 gals of DEF so far.

Funny, the box of Valvoline DEF I just picked up says 400 miles for a gallon like that was a good number?

I can't tell if I was burning through a lot of it during my cross country trip due to towing, or just due to the amount of miles I was putting on the Jeep. I've since put about 6,000 miles on it since the trip ended and will need to fill up within the next tank or two.

Doing some research on this. Got the 500 miles left message. I filled it up last night and ran through 4 start cycles. Still says 490 miles left and the gauge says 25% left. When will this reset to full? do I need to manually reset?

My light came on on certain inclines, the would go away.

Now its on was saying 380 miles left, drover over the weekend like 120 miles and it was saying i could still drive 310 miles... All while the gauge shows over 1/4 of a tank left (1/4th of a tank should last 2,500 miles)

11,046 miles in the OD now, filed the DEF tank ALL the way at 8,018 miles, so at best this tank would lasted me 3,500 miles based on the warning... We will see.

Did your gauge reset on its own? Mine DEF tank is Full Full, a little spilled out after putting in 2 bottles. The gauge still says 1/4 full. I thought maybe after a few start cycles the computer would recognize the tank was full and reset to 100%

Mine has always reset after one or two startups...

I drive pretty much all highway or country roads and I fill my def up generally whenever I hit 50 percent full. I'm getting about 4k or so prob before I have to fill half of it.

You might want to check some truck stops. I fill the DEF tank up on my Ram at a local truck stop for $2.67 a gallon. I do keep a box in my garage just in case. I will be filling my Gladiator up at the same place. Fair warning about the DEF pumps, They pump fast. So don't get in a hurry pumping that stuff or you will be cleaning the side of your vehicle.

I’m at 4,600 and I have ~350 til it won’t start. This is going to be the 2nd time I’m doing a full fill up. It was full when I bought it.

I filled up again last month, ODM was at 11,522, so this last tank only lasted 3,504 vs the expected 10,000 miles.

If you ask me something is nor right...

This is interesting, I have only had one diesel that I have had to use DEF (VW TDI), seems it doesn't matter size weight etc but more about driving habits I do a lot of highway driving so I am getting between 5-7K out of my tank. Interesting that the JT is all over the place on mileage....

May 02 2022 i had the Y81/DEF recall done.... also timed it so my DEF tank was basically empty at the service. Filled it up and now 3,500 miles later, Def tank is empty again... so Y81 did nothing for DEF consumption....

For every 1,000 miles. I'm using about 1.25 gallons.
