Why not just drop a Hemi or LS/LT into the JT?

I'm done with the JT. It's my 37th Jeep and it if were my first it would have been my last. More warranty issues and major breakdowns than all 36 Jeeps before it. In fact, JTs have the worst warranty claim record of all Jeeps. Its a toy, not a truck, the 1/4 ton frame in the front with the fabbed up 1/2 ton frame in the back adds to the issues. It is a total turd towing but I believed the Jeep hype with their overstated towing numbers. It is no where as capable off road as the JL Wrangler which I found out fast. Inch to inch lift and tire size to tire size, the Wrangler will win every day over the JT. Besides, rumor from well placed sources in Jeep and Ram say that the JT will be done with the 2026 model year and will be replaced by a new true 1/2 ton mid sized Ram truck. We are all about to be driving dinosaurs on the way to extinction

Of course a Wrangler will beat the JT offroad, just look at the wheelbase, breakover, and departure angles. Anyone claiming a JT on the same lift and tires as a Wrangler is just as capable has never looked at either.

When compared to other midsize trucks, it's arguably the most capable off roader for the dollar - at least until you get to the Chevy Colorado with the ZR2 Bison package, but now you are talking about a $60,000 truck with a 4 cyl engine.

1. It’s about 40k for a motor, trans and atlas with an install.
2. I’m still averaging 18.5 mpg on 42s and have over 500lb ft of torque
3. I’m not interested in a hemi (weight, space and heat issues) and motech hasn’t released their JL/JT swap yet which is what I’d do.

I would like to see just a cooler option for the engine oil..I don't need or want a bypass filter.

That said what we need is a VW V6 TDI swap kit..they are bullet proof.

Sounds like the insane diesel helps. A overlooked component is gearing. My jeep on 3.73's has much higher oil temps climbing grades than a friends jeep on 4.88s and 40s.

We both still hit 250 at some point at higher speed but they get there slower.

I have never derated on my gladiator on 38s climbing the sierras at 75-80mph. I have got to the upper limit of this.

I stand by removing all foam blocks, venting your hood, etc to let the underhood breathe.

I plan on doing a upgraded radiator at some point and have shifted my focus on somehow fitting a more efficient intercooler at the same time. Air temps and oil temps play a huge role in these jeeps but the coolant temp going up is the starting point to overheating. I really wish Banks would offer a intercooler, ram or cold air intake, and radiator upgrade. I would be first in line.

My thoughts..I haven't had a water temp issue as the oil is always 10-25* hotter so that's why I'd just do the oil if offered. Cooler oil should also result in cooler water temps. IC shouldn't make any difference unless egt's are getting out of line. Taking more heat from the intake air, that heat will get directed to the radiator..then will need a more efficient Radiator and a fan that can pull more cfm and static pressure... :headbang:

- Remove all padding from under the hood
- Get proper hood vents (Motobilt makes great ones for the Rubicons, not sure about others)
- Vented fender liners are also great
- If you're not deleted... Bulletproof Diesel makes a really good EGR cooler upgrade EcoDiesel RAM/JEEP 3.0L EGR Cooler: 68239570AC 68211312AA; 68239570AA; 68239570AB; 68445601AA, 68509351AA, 68490113AA (bulletproofdiesel.com)
- If you have a big ass bumper and lights/winch blocking your grill, well. Probably should fix that.
- Bulletproof Diesel also makes a supplemental cooler for the EcoDiesels Supplemental Cooling System 2021-2023 Jeep Gladiator/Wrangler Diesel (bulletproofdiesel.com)
- Big tires with poor gearing = overheating

All those Jeeps and you still can't figur out what a JT is good for?
You know I've had J10s, a J20 and a J4000. I knew what they were good for as they were real trucks. If Jeep would have made the JT more like a truck and not half and half I might have figured it out by now.

I'm guessing you don't tow. I regularly tow a 3000lb trailer and have had water temps go critical, oil temps hit 269 and Trans temps go nuts towing in mountainous areas. Even a short 3 Mule 6% grade and water temps and trans temps in the 240s with oil temps 268+. You don't have that in the Ram 1500 EcoD because there is plenty of room for the engine to cool and why the Ram with the same engine has an 11K tow rating (then again it has a full truck frame which the JT doesnt). I've been told by several dealers that have had to do warranty repairs nationwide and a Jeep VP telling me the diesel should never have been offered in the US. It's great if you don't tow and dont drive in mountains but it has too many short comings. My exhaust got so hot that it burned a 6" hole thru it that looked like it had been hit with a light Saber. Turbo replaces twice, tyranny failed at 40K miles. Engine leaking oil now from front and rear seals, transfer case needed fixed, seals on rear axles twice, elec sway bar system replaced 3 times now in shop a 4th time for it, they trying to say it won't be covered by warranty this time. Electrical issues, DEF issues like it won't regenerate, premium sound speakers need replaced, premium head unit is being replaced, rear camera replaced twice, the proximity sensors show phantom vehicles next to me when it rains, they can't duplicate so they can't fix. I cam go on but I think you get the picture.

DELETED??? thought about it but its a Federal and State FELONY with heavy fines and jail time PLUS you void your warranty. Just not worth the consequences but your point is well taken as to the benefits.

Well, not all of us live in the USA thankfully. Emission standards are not enforced in Canada as long as you aren't a commercial vehicle, you can run deletes all day long and they won't bother you. I hold no value with the Jeep warranty. I use my Jeep as a Jeep, I fully expect them not to honor their warranty.
