Thinking of building a gladiator to replace my wife's destroyed JLURD. And this time around I might not spring for the Rubicon. Will most likely order a 3.5" suspension setup and go one tons ASAP. Just want to make sure what transfer case I'd be getting.

My 22 JTRD has the 4:1 Rock-Trac transfer case. The sport JTD that I just looked up shows the regular command trac transfer case on the window sticker.

If you go and build a JTRD it does not come with the Rock trac.

If you build a rubicon gladiator diesel it will come standard with a “4:1 Rock-Trac Part-Time 4WD system”

it has the option for
“4:1 Rock-Trac FULL TIME 4wd system”

it will not come- even though the sticker shows it… with 4.10 axle gears…. (Left column shows 4.10– right shows the 3.73’s.)

Don't think you can option the FULL TIME system with the diesel for whatever reason. Not with the 4:1 system on the Rubicon nor the 2.73:1 standard system.

So:

Rubicons are the only diesel JTs that come with 4:1.
The rest get the standard 2.73:1

If you’re in Europe, you can get full time 4WD, but those are our only options here in the states. If you want the lower tcase, buy a Rubi.

You are totally correct- rubicon diesel cannot have the full time 4wd, my apologies.

rubicon is only offered with the 4:1 transfer case. All others have the lesser reduction 2.73:1.

I just assumed up until now but can anybody confirm the "Rock Trac" transfer case is essentially the same NVG241OR they've been putting in Rubicons forever?

I was laying under mine yesterday and it looked awfully small under there. Then again the Gladiator is just massive compared to my TJ.

I had to rebuild one once. They're beef. I have no idea how the PO managed to toast it aside from maybe 50k miles on dry pavement in 4hi
