Daily driver, 30 minutes each way. Both batteries replaced last year at the dealership. The voltage is currenly reading 12.78.

I had emissions done on it Saturday. My key FOB stopped working at the emissions place when I tried to leave and would not lock or unlock the door. I got in and the truck cranked with no issues and has been fine until tonight. I got into it tonight to drive home from work and the Stop/Start Unavailable Service Stop/Start System came on. I drive it 5 to 6 days per week. I cannot take it to the Dealership until next week and nervous driving it at this time. Dumb question, but coud the service center have done anything to it? Logic says no. Just grasping and high anxiety taking over. This is not the week for it as I am short staffed and missing any time at work is not an option.

What was done to the emissions?

Not that the service center does anything ā€˜on purpose’ but couldā€˜ve missed installing something properly or not tight enough.

If you turn OFF the Start/Stop each time you get in the truck, are you still getting faults?

Honestly, I have no idea. I would assume hooking it up to the computer to take a reading. This is the current message.

Yes, I still get the error messages if I turn off the Start/Stop each time I get in the truck.

Try disconnecting the negative cables and separately charging each battery.

Usually, the message you are getting indicates the Aux Battery failed the startup test.

Maybe check with the dealer and see if there is a warranty on the batteries.

The system is crap. I have replaced an aux battery that tested fine. Dealer tried to talk me out of it. After change, system worked for a short about of time. Now it doesn't work again (5 months later). Almost 55K miles. Will swap out the main battery next.

I am not impressed. I am taking it back to the dealership since the batteries are still under warranty. I pulled the receipt and they installed both brand new batteries in September of 2024. I drive it 5 to 6 days per week. I guess I need to get a battery tender for it as well, SMH It is such a hassle to arrange to drop the Jeep and pick it up at a later date. Mine is a 2020, but you would think by 2025 that they would have a viable solution other than continuing to put a band-aid on it. But long story short, I love my Jeeps and this apparently is part of being an owner of the newer Jeeps. My 93 Wrangler, 5-minute battery swap and ready to go.

Dealerships are known to take shortcuts. If they can do a hot swap on your batteries, they could save some time. You may not get an IBS reset, you may not get a fully charged battery installed.

I really shouldn't say dealerships. A bunch of private shops like to take shortcuts too.

You can do what MrBill said and see how that works out for you.

I completely agree with you and Mr. Bill(Thinking Saturday Night Live), lol My issue is the timing is not good, and I am shorthanded with multiple people out and several places I need to be, including moving my youngest daughter. I will take this route in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, a trip to drop off and recover is my simplest short-term solution. I am fortunate to have multiple forms of transportation.

Another short term solution would be to simply connect an AGM charger on it overnight. Drive like that until you can get it to the dealership. It may be what they end up doing and a big waste of your time.

I am not convinced this is a battery issue. I know everyone likes to point to that, and while it's true it's the most common reason, it is not the only reason you can get this message.

Anything that has gone wrong that is a condition of ESS working will do this. Sensors, switches, there's a lot more at play than just the battery condition. I would think there's a good chance it could be one of these other things.

My advice here is not to get tunnel vision and focus only on the batteries. Yes do what you can to rule them out, but don't get stuck in diagnostic circles over them either.

I live in Minnesota, have a 21 gladiator with 23000 miles. Original owner and never charged the battery, occasionally I get the stop start not available. Never had a problem.

12.78vdc doesn't sound like a battery issue. Seeing stop start " not ready" " not ready battery charging" is what I would expect to see. " Unavailable " without a check engine light, I would start looking at the batteries, because if it is the batteries, the next phase could be more flashing lights and a pull over now message. Tossing a charger on it over night is not a costly thing to do. If your issue goes away after that, you know to look a little deeper. Maybe the dealer last year replaced the easy one billed the warranty for both, never did an IBS reset. We just don't know. Until you see it done or do it yourself, all bets are off.

But yes, it could be other things.
