I think I’m going to cancel my order with Northridge too. Would love to get these but need to fix my broken tail light and cheaper to just buy a replacement at this point. I’ll be back at some point I’m sure.

How bad is your current tail light broken?

Have you worked for an electronic engineering company or any ISO certified company, had to go through FEDs to get things certified? The tail lights must comply with numerous federal laws related to side markers, tail and brake lights, reverse lights and more. It's a long process, especially today with materials shortages, TRUCK DRIVER shortages (I know drivers - and have discussed this before) and many companies are having trouble just getting staff (also posted about before)
The feds could be taking a long time, DOT numbers must be present and for that, they have to be checked and certified.

To answer your question yes I have and still do.....regardless,, they previously stated that they are manufactured by their "Asian" partners. So one would assume that they are being shipped from China. Yes, they may be delayed for any of the reasons you list above but it would more than likely still take less time if they were produced in the USA.

If they are being produced in China this is probably true. China has maintained a 'zero tolerance' policy on Covid. They lock down whole cities for single cases of the delta variant. That means all the factories and everything else there close down until it gets reopened.

How to quantify those delays versus material delays to be manufactured in the USA, who knows?

Regardless, I'm fine waiting but since we are going on 4 months since the pre-order I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting their money back until their availability increases.

Even if they were made in the USA we would still be waiting for the raw materials to be shipped from overseas so regardless we are all waiting. I personally am getting ready to move this weekend so It wouldn't be for a few weeks anyways before I could install them. I do have to agree that it sucks having the ship date pushed back but it is what it is.

Actually it would be delayed more if made in the USA due to staffing shortages, extended unemployment, the fact companies can't fill positions, etc. Like I've said - Pella Corp, a major manufacturer of windows, doors, and other stuff, can't expand to new locations or even fill orders because they can't find employees. And in the USA, it's got to be trucked around, and they have to get the components. In China, the stuff is all there, no staff shortages and the government keeps things humming along.
Want it faster - get it from China.

Funny thing about stuff from China - while their lockdowns are real - when you look at the shelves in stores, stuff from China seems to be there, stuff from the states - not so much.

Stuff from Korea is flowing fine because that country has things under control. Schools are open, people are working (and people want to work instead of sitting home) companies can find employees. You don't see shortages from Korea.

Back in early March, I ordered oak flooring for my stairs to the finished lower level (ok, call it a basement, but its a walkout and fully finished)
The order consisted of the flooring planks and the oak stair noses.
The oak flooring came in but the noses were on back order - they said a week.
So it was roughly the 25th or so when that BO was supposed to have been filled - no stair noses.
We kept hearing excuses and "it's on the way" and finally I got fed up as the guy helping do the stairs had the carpet ripped up, the stair noses cut off in prep for the oak and the stairs were a total mess, a disaster, rough, short - and - he had other jobs to get to so was leaving for his next job, and still no stair noses.
I did some research and found out where the stuff was supposedly coming from - and found out "they lost it". It was 7 pieces of solid oak stair noses each one 7 feet long - and they couldn't find them. I got after them on their social media - and that was the trick - got instant attention. I got a phone call explaining and apologizing and then got messages from the Canadian maker of the flooring saying they'd schedule production of some more - and that would take a week. I told them I know how that works - they feed oak stock through automated planers and then into spray booths, etc. and it could be done in a day, not a week. They agreed and since that was on a Friday, they said they'd have them made by Monday.
Tuesday they said they'd shipped them "priority" which from CA means 2 days to Des Moines.
Thursday came, no noses, Friday came, no noses. We ALL did more digging - the stair noses made it from Canada to Nashville by Wednesday and were sitting waiting for customs.
The following week - still sitting in Nashville, still waiting for customs.
I'd had it. The distributor looked at every one they sold to, every warehouse in the country that might have some of those stair noses and found some in Washington state, some others in a couple of other locations and over-nighted them to me.
31 days later, the stair noses in Nashville were released by customs and were shipped to Des Moines.
So there you have it - a whole MONTH sitting in Nashville waiting for customs.
It wasn't the fault of the manufacturer. The only fault of the distributor was losing the originals to begin with and not having better tracking of 7 foot long pieces of oak.

Be careful who you blame for delays........................

(and since we are so friendly with Canada, although I can't figure out sometimes why Canada puts up with the USA, I wish we had things more open between us.)

This is so true. Around me every place is hiring right now, fast food places are giving signing bonuses. The lack of staff is noticeable in a lot of places. One grocery store has went to self checkout only. Things are a mess right now, I have had broken AC in my house all summer because I refuse to pay the high pricing based on the crazy demand right now.

Hurricane Ida update: Our facilities luckily did not sustain any major damage from hurricane Ida but we are currently waiting for utilities to be restored so that we can resume business. We are going to be setting up staff to work remotely in the meantime. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.
