I'm being idiotic. Sure. Listen to what you're saying. The Lightning can't tow. The reason is because it's....wait for it....electric. Sure it can tow for about 30 miles, but then you're screwed and there are no two ways around that. It has the same issues that every other EV has, and until they fix those issues (which my indeed not happen in my lifetime), your commitment to this new 'technology' is not only funny, but sad at the same time. And, if you seriously think that gassers and diesels are going away any day soon, you're sorely mistaken. The infrastructure just isn't there, and it's very likely to be the same story a decade from now.

Versus, you calling him a moron? You're a typical liberal who doesn't know how to confront facts.
I’m sorry. Liberals don’t like facts? Wow. The lightning can only tow 30 miles because it’s only got a short range to begin with. I said it’s a poor design because ford, who I dislike as a manufacturer anyway, produced a full sized pickup without enough batteries. It was a gimmick they hoped would sell, but the consumers saw through its lack of battery capacity. The rivian however can tow more weight for much longer distances, since it has more battery capacity.

I’m done with you. I wasn’t lying, which you either understand, or are too pig headed to accept. Don’t reply to me again unless you’d like dead air. I plan to enjoy my Saturday.

I said that the government was mandating EV's and that no ICE vehicles would be allowed, which you denied. Then, when I mentioned the California law, you admitted that yeah it IS, but it isn't happening for eleven years. So, yeah, you did lie, based on your response.

If you had just said, "well, yeah, you're right, California did indeed mandate it but it isn't the law of the land yet", you would have a leg to stand on, but no, you instead merely said that the law doesn't go into effect for eleven years.

That makes it a fib. Which is less than a lie. When you called me a moron, THAT made it a lie.

The Rivian's range drops by more than half when towing a trailer. That isn't surprising, EVERY vehicle loses range when it is towing a trailer.

How Well Does the Rivian R1T Tow?
We pulled 5650 pounds of BMW 328i wagon strapped to a Futura trailer, and everything about it was fabulous—except for the limited range and charging logistics.

" Switching to Tow mode comes with some ominous foreshadowing, as the R1T's indicated range disappears, instantly going from 270 miles to 103. So, for all intents and purposes, cross-country trailering with the R1T is like trying to go on a road trip in a Mazda MX-30, a car with 70 miles of range at 75 mph. Yes, there are enough DC fast chargers between Ann Arbor and Traverse City, Michigan, to make that trip—a very common weekend getaway for southeastern Michigan residents—possible, but it isn't all that practical. Good god. Solar and wind are more efficient and cleaner. But people want to hate them for some reason. The sun sends enough energy every day to power the world for a year. But no one is ants ti spend the money to build the solar farms. Or they want to complain about how much space it takes up. No one complains about how much space ethanol corn fields take up though.

No, they aren't. This produces 1200 MW all day every day.

This is NO LONGER PRODUCING SOLAR POWER, and has instead gone purely Natural Gas It covers 4,000 acres.

Politics. @JAY ?

I love it. When confronted by facts, you respond with laughing emoji's instead of addressing the facts. Then, when you realize that that won't work, you cry to mom.

Instead of getting triggered, and whining, ADDRESS the facts. I want to learn everything I can about the subject. I am sure other's here do to. But when your arguments consist of insults, no one learns anything.

So knock it off. ADDRESS the facts!

And yet you have a problem change now, but not in the past? Leaded gas vehicles were banned. And corn was forced on us in the form of ethanol gas, much worse for our engines, and not in any way more efficient. Farmers received gains from fuel buying tax payers, but I don’t see you whining about that.
Leaded vehicles were not banned, the fuel additive was. Even then not even remotely the same nor germane to the subject since the very infrastructure needed to sustain the switch from leaded to unleaded was already in existence, substitutes for TEL already had long been developed by the time the catalytic converter became standard in the 70s. In other words, virtually the same equipment could be used at the local Sinclair or Shell to fill up your tank, it just got a different formula from the distributor.

Ethanol subsidies are a boondoggle considering it takes more than a gallon of fuel to net a gallon of ethanol but that is not what we were discussing.

Nice attempt at diverting the topic.

You’re a moron.
Myself and others have brought facts to the discussion and are willing to discuss them and instead... You are not arguing in good faith, and then you choose as usual to call names and cast aspersions about political inclinations and whatnot. Very mature.

I lied about nothing. I responded that no one had forced you or any other person to buy an EV. One state changing a law in 11 years doesn’t make me a liar. And yes, you insulted me when you falsely called me a liar. So I responded proportionately by calling you a moron. Except I was accurate.
Again, you're not arguing in good faith.

The government is forcing people to buy EVs past a certain point in the future and has created multiple obstacles to continued use of ICE vehicles. That is a clear fact, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, and irrespective of the timeline, it is an all out ban on the sales of new vehicles.

And to be honest, there shouldn't be an argument at all. EV's have a long way to go before they can ever supplant ICE cars. That is just a fact.

But the truly pressing issue is the lack of power plants being built to support them.

I can't remember how long it has been since a real power plant has been built. But it is years.

Not one of the solar, or wind plants can provide the power to the grid without a natural gas powered backup.

That too is a fact. One that these folks are either unaware of, or are ignoring.

We all love technology. I know I do. I want EV's to take over, but they won't until they are ready.

Of course the range drops, but from almost 400 to half ish. That’s the problem with the lightning. It starts at 200 max. It shouldn’t even be sold with a receiver.

I laugh when you call falsehoods facts. And I laugh when you ignore my points and skip over them.
