The heater and WIF sensor are in one plug and the other is the temp sensor, there’s even a hole for it in the housing marked sensor, DOH! I’m running a little bit behind today. I’ll call Fleece tomorrow and see if it they have a solution.

it actually fits pretty good, I think it can go up a hair more or I can get creative and lower the cover.

There are a couple snags, the first one is easy to resolve if you know about it in advance, the fittings aren’t the right size, order a -8 ORB 5/16 fitting because shocker!! The 6.7 has larger fuel lines! The 6.7 has 1/2 inch and 3/8 lines, our 3.0 has 3/8 and 5/16 lines. Just swap the inlet to the outlet and put the 5/16 into the inlet.

The second one is not so easy, the filter housing has the fuel temp sensor in it and the Ram doesn’t. I left it unplugged and the truck was NOT HAPPY!

Been emailing back and forth with Fleece and they are looking into a solution.

Update, got the connector and temp sensor in, the connector is not the exact one, it is the right series but is keyed a bit differently. I filed off the key so I could test it and it fits so I did some more digging and found the right one, I hope. Should be here in a few days, when I’m sure I’ll post the part numbers.

I put this together and tried it out, factory temp sensor, bottom right is fuel temp

with the OEM unplugged

it’s cool today, in the 60’s, definitely not -40!
With the replacement sensor plugged in

It’s not 12 degrees here but at least it registers, I warmed it with a heat gun the temp did go up. I don’t think this will be a problem for the Fleece fuel heater as it is self regulating and only turns on at 28 degrees and off at 45(?) so it’s not going to run all the time. We will see when I get it installed if the truck is happy.

I’m going to remake the bracket for the housing with a couple changes. The temp sensor I ordered is too big to screw into the housing so I ordered another one.

More updates as I go.

put both sensors in some warm tap water, measure the resistance values of both sensors in the same bath of water. I suspect there will be a delta between the resistance values. Knowing the delta you should be able to add a resistor the same value of the delta in line , and get the new sensor to read correct. At least that is the theory.

You can then test that theory by testing different water bath temps to see if the values match through changes.

The sensor was a budget sensor and I’m sure it was bad, I got a better one and the temp was the same as the OEM in the housing. The problem is the housing is threaded 1/8 NPT and most sensors are larger than that, I believe I found a 1/8 NPT sensor at a reasonable price and it should be here this week along with the right connector.

I think I have all the information needed, I haven’t completed the install yet (may or may not happen, keep reading)

The connector for the temp sensor is an Aptiv APEX 2, part number 15394689

The terminals for it are APEX male 2.8 mm terminal part number 10762775-L

(this is for 20-22 gauge wire, if you want 16-14 gauge wire order 10757692-L or 10762774-L for 12-10 gauge)

I made the bracket for the filter base out of 1/8 x 2” strap, about 9 inches and bent in the middle and holes drilled to bolt it in the factory “bucket”

One -8 male ORB to 5/16 EFI fuel line fitting

Obviously, the Fleece filter mount and the Fleece fuel heater if you need it.

OK, now the bad news, the filter for that mount is a primary filter with a micron rating of 10-13 depending on where you look. That isn’t good enough by itself, so you are going to need a secondary filter with a 2 micron rating. There are a lot of options, and you will need a filter mount for it. I looked at the Cat 1R-0750 which has a 2 micron rating and is about 7 inches tall so it will fit under truck. The filter base has four inlet/outlets and comes with two plugs, so you need hoses to plumb it in and a reducer to screw your choice of fluid temp sensor in one of the extras. -6 AN hose and fittings are readily available.

I thought the factory fuel filter was like 20 micron.

Edit. I’m wrong. Factory is 3 micron. Maybe oil filter is 20.

I didn't read every comments. What are you trying to achieve? Seems like a lot of work with multiple fuel connections that can potentially fail.

Easier filter changes with a spin on filter, and potentially lesser cost per filter

Out of curiosity could the thread adapter be swapped out to use a 1x14 2 micron filter like what's used on the fass system?
