Some auto insurance policies will help with trip interruption claims. At least worth asking to help defray the rental expenses.

Does the owners manual state that failure to add a lubricant will cause the fuel pump to fail? If not, it is a pump/design issue by Bosch. They know what kind of diesel fuel we have in the USA. 15ppm sulfur ulsd. The problem is, no one cares. Kick the can out of warranty and they're done. Adding a lubricant could save your pump, that being said, several on the Duramax Forum with the same CP4, have had failures even with adding a lubricant. Running low and sucking air is more of a problem. If you aren't going to run a fuel additive, then you are at risk. If you plan to run a fuel additive, then you shouldn't have any problems going forward. Like I've said before, the CP4 pump is a highly reliable and long lasting pump as long as it's getting the lubricity it needs.
We shouldn't have to, but you're playing with fire when you don't. I have three EcoDiesels. I use a fuel additive in all three trucks. I've had ZERO issues. It's the least of my worries. We shouldn't have to! BOSCH
