I'm guessing that the new transmission tuning and throttle mapping does as much to help as the actual power increases.
I'm sure hoping you are wrong, but so hard to know as a manual transmission owner. I suspect most is in pedal/transmission for the auto guys.

Just "waking" up the pedal made a HUGE "difference" in my Tundra and my Gladiator..... same power, just felt way better in actual use.

Curious on a manual, or any actual proved improvement of power with this tune?

Thank you.

How much would a new unlocked PCM cost? Roughy. Are talking about another $300 or $900.

If you have a 93 tune and fill up with 87. or get a bad batch of gas, does the knock detection still work? Will it pull timing if it senses knock?

I assume the handheld tuner can store multiple tunes. How long does it take to reflash?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks. I've tuned 2 of the last 4 cars I've owned. But they were both turbos with huge gains to be had. (VW 1.8T and a Subaru STi) I'm trying to figure out if this is worth it.

I'm guessing that the new transmission tuning and throttle mapping does as much to help as the actual power increases. Yes.
It only takes a few minutes to flash a tune. The handheld holds all of the files on it, so you can just keep it in the truck. Its a lot faster than the other cars that I've owned. Maybe just faster PCM hardware since its a 2020-2021 vehicle.

If I had to get 87, I would just quickly flash the computer back to the 87 tune. Knock detection and all of the safety jazz still works, but obviously that is what the other octane tunes are for.

I don't know how much they normally cost, but right now around 600-900.

I figure based on the dyno charts, you will gain 13-20% increase in power, plus all of the drivability enhancements.

There are huge gains within the RPM range, not talking peak to peak. That makes a major difference with drivability.

Available for multiple octane levels, and even Flex Fuel for 18+ JL/JT, our 93/E85 Flex Fuel performance tune leading the way in terms of power andperformance. This exclusive option is good for peak vs. peak gains of over 29WHP and 36WTQ, with maximum gains of over 51WHP and 57WTQ! In addition to these performance enhancements, we also spent a great deal of time improving throttle response, part throttle shifting, and working to ensure our updates play well in all driving modes. Coupled with the performance upgrade, these drivability changes make the truck feel greatly improved in day to day usage.

I think it’s worth it
I already got it done and it is totally worth it. Much improved drivability. The bump in power and smoothness is obvious. I wish the transmission tune was less aggressive in lower gears at partial throttle.

Any chance you asked if they will mod it for you?
I thought about asking to have the auto stop set back to default on again but I think I like it better off.

I never asked, but they probably would.

And impact on your Warranty?
Tunes once detected usually result in warranty block/void.
Curious how this (or HPT) avoids this? On newer GMs, you cannot as the ECM tracks flashes, so even if you flash back to stock they know.

Personally, I purchased an unlocked PCM, so I can switch back for troubleshooting purposes if there's a problem (not overly concerned about warranty). I understand mileage is kept in the PCM and TCM, so if the dealer pokes around enough they'll probably ask why there's a difference. If warranty is the primary concern, then don't perform any mods until after 3/36 ?

Dealer knows if the PCM has been disconnected as there is a flag for PCM removed. I was honest with my dealer about it when I went in for my TSB. If you're concerned with warranty then don't mod. That said, the Livernois tune is solid and I love it.

Yes, so any reflashing / PCM swap is likely to = warranty void.
It's risk, I've self tuned several cars so I get it. That being said, Livernois is solid, well respected in the LS / EcoBoost areas. I've resisted the urge to break out the HPT and mess with the Jeep. Heck, my LS3 in my Commodore (SS) is still on stock tune as it has extended warranty.

Now does something like the Tazer Mini trigger that or is it undetectable?

The Tazer does not trigger anything. It is changing settings that the dealer would change with the star scan tool. So if the dealer is aware of how your jeep was setup from the factory and that no other dealer has made changes for you, then there is no way to know the Tazer changed anything. Also if you put everything back the way you found it before service, absolutely undetectable.

Super smooth on E-85. The increase in power is obvious and makes a huge difference in the driveability.

Curious to hear from the OP or someone with a stick. I'll probably go for this when the warranty is out, if it looks like a significant improvement in low to mid range torque. Top end power is the least of my concerns.

would the pcm trigger a removal flag if the batteries had been disconnected for an extended period of time? how would it know?

Check the thread on JL Forum. 30+ pages and they go in-depth about manual trans plus the rev hang issue.
