I gave my grandfather a ride in my 2013 JK the first day I got it. He was a sergeant in the army in the 50's and was driven around in Jeeps. That was also the last time he had ridden in one. First thing he says is "They still have the handle eh?" (referring to the "oh shit" bar). The rest of the drive he told me stories about riding around in them and how bad his driver was. To me that's what makes a Jeep a Jeep. My 2013 JK brought him back to riding in military Jeeps when he was in the army.Well yes I suppose Willys, but perhaps more broadly CJ’s. He probably owned a dozen of them over the years.
Wranglers werent a thing until 1987 and he had been driving CJ’s for a good 25 years at that point.
Old dog/new tricks and all of that.
The other cool thing is that because of Jeeps, each can have their own opinion on if the latest Jeeps are still real Jeeps! #Merica
