Title says it all. Wrangler sales also down (12% 4Q, 14% overall in 2023). Not sure if declines are result of absurdly high MSRPs, new competition from Bronco, UAW strike, or other reasons. Stellantis overall reports a 1% sales decline while most other manufacturers are reporting sales gains in North America in 2023. Ford has yet to report.

I fear they may kill off the Glady and “replace” it with a revived Dakota with some hybrid/electric system. Hopefully not.

No matter what, we have our JTs now. When I was 18 or 19, I desperately wanted a Scrambler, but didn't have the $$$. Now a Scrambler is a classic and a rare, expensive find. I have 0 intention of ever selling my Mojave. Ever.

the same goes for my Rubi. The silver lining of that scenario is that the value of our trucks could possibly go up.

There may come a time that I stop using mine as a daily and keep it as a weekend/pleasure vehicle, but it’s ride it to the very end for me. I had a two door JL that I sold (and regretted) when the used car market was going bananas. It was my favorite all time vehicle I ever had (even over my previous car, 2016 Z06) until my Gladiator. ?

It is 100% the interest rates! the Discounts right are the result of that and trying to combat it ….I’ve been looking to buy a new one since my 2020 lease is up….and at 9/10/11 % its idiotic to buy at those rates….makes a 50-55k truck 800 a month ?!? Nobody is gonna do that …unless your paying cash

My bet is on inflation and interest rates. (Or one in of the same ;) )

That doesn’t explain why other automakers grew sales.

The JT and JL have become way overpriced. Trade in values are horrible. Interest rates are insane.
Indeed. JT’s value proposition was tenuous from the start. It was priced closer to full-size pickups than to other midsize trucks.

Jeep only made matters worse by jacking up prices faster than inflation, without seriously addressing well-known battery, steering and dealer issues.

To be fair, ALL pickups are having a hard time right now. Sales of F150, Silverado, Ram 1500, even Tacoma, have slowed down significantly in recent months.

For decades, pickups used to offer the most “steel” for the money. But automakers have turned pickups into full-blown luxury vehicles.

If I were to guess, consumers have simply snapped out of their stupor.

Just throwing this out there: I'd estimate that I see 100 non-Jeep midsize trucks for every JT I see. Most people want a pickup truck, not a Jeep, and the JT is a Jeep Wrangler with a pickup bed. Ford, Chevy, Toyota all offer trucks with big payloads and towing capacity now and better engine options than the JT. There's nothing special about the numbers. Demand for JT is less than demand for new Colorados and Canyons that can be had for a lot less than the cost of a JT and are very arguably much better trucks to live with day to day. Personally, and selfishly, I don't care if jeep stops making a JT. The cost of old Jeep pickups has gone way up and if less JTs on the road make my truck more valuable, then hell ya.

I can't believe nobody noticed that Dodge sold 2 VIPERS in Q4. How are there even Vipers sitting around?

I'm starting to believe...
