I put 16k on factory glass before I traded that in and to replace the new one after 2600 miles. I used aftermarket glass and was installed for 250 otd. 30 k miles so far no issues. I’ll keep using the cheap glass cause I’m cheap.

I bought a glass insurance package on the Jeep from the dealer when I purchased the Gladiator (I know, I know). I've been actually hoping for some broken windshields to recoup my investment.

Has anyone tried getting a dealer to install Gorilla Glass through one of these plans? The plan gives me the option of taking OEM or 3rd party, but it has a lifetime payout cap. So if you take OEM you'll use it up on fewer windshields. I wonder if they would see the GG as a win for them since they are less likely to replace it again after putting one on.
I did the same and have just had my second OEM replacment via the insurance with absolutely no problems. I requested and was supplied OEM Mopar which the dealer told me to do. I did request the gorilla glass this time but the safe lite guy said they didn’t do them for the gladiator. I now know different so I will push harder next time. I think they said lifetime payout was 4K so I would think in the insurance comany’s interest to supply a glass that breaks less. Out of interest does anyone know the price difference between regular and gorilla when buying as a replacement.

So, the dealer is telling me the Gorilla Glass is on Backorder, and that it won’t work with the ACC….which makes me think they just want to sell me what they have.

Does the GG work with Gladiators that have ACC or not?

I have the GG option and the ACC option, no issues with the function of the sensors that I have experienced.

Should I replace my windshield that cracked with standard glass or gorilla glass?

They say the Gorilla glass is lighter. Does anyone know what the windshield weighs in both forms?

Thanks!!!!
I hate to brag but I have almost 29,000 miles on my original windshield. I do have some chips, one I had repaired. But when this one goes I am definitely getting Gorilla Glass.

I think one thing that has made my windshield last is that I don't drive very fast on freeways and try to keep well back of vehicles in front of me. Let's face it, the glass in near vertical. So they are at great risk of breaking.

I checked with my dealer in Alberta and he said there are 27 on back order in the system with 2 being scheduled for release. This is because JeeP decided to install at factory I’m guessing. So maybe by March I will get a GG.

It does work. In fact early this past summer I talked to the guy who works in Corning glass works via facebook and he told me his buddy was involved and was releasing a version that would work "on my truck" after I told him I had the ACC, etc.. He said it was due to be released, I believe he said July 2021. I'd have to find his message again.

What the hell is the deal with so many Jeeps getting broken windshields? I've driven since I was 16 and I'm 66 now and have never had a broken windshield!Only my last truck; a 2014 GMC 2500HD Denali got a "star" and I filled it with that clear crap - sorta/kinda worked.

Just got back from a 450 mile round trip in my new-to-me 2020 Gladiator and heard a couple of hard hits but no breaks and no "stars".

IF I should get a break and I contact my insurance will they pay for this Gorilla Glass or will they only want to pay for whatever a "conventional" windshield costs?

I'm right at a year now with HGP Gorilla Glass, another 15K miles or so, and zero chips/dings/damage. I have heard HARD hits but no harm, no foul.

Different laminate order than the Mopar glass, but the core concept is a winner for me.
Same here. Went through two factory windshields within 3000 miles. Had HGP glass for 20K no issues.

I'm on my sixth "real" Jeep. YJ, JKU, JKU, JLU, JT, and now another JT. Untold number of combined miles on and off road. Not one single chip, crack, or split on any windshield, ever. Six Jeeps, six windshields.

I'll add that there's a rock quarry on my road with dump trucks pulling out onto the highway all day long.

What exactly are you guys doing, parking under a tree full of hammers?

Who’s your dealer in Alberta?
Maybe I can help speed the process for you.

Sure, blame the owner/driver for windshield cracks and chips.
I was driving my wife's GC through Des Moines one day, I235. I was doing the speed limit of 60. I was in the far left lane as I had gone around some slower traffic in the middle and right lane. Ahead several yards in the right lane - keep in mind I was in the far left, he was in the right, and there was a lane between us - a rock came off that truck, bounced a couple of times on the pavement and just like in slow motion - it hit right square in the center of the windshield. Nothing I could do and I was 2 lanes away from him about 5 or so car lengths back.
Similar happened with me and my F250 - something up ahead a ways apparently kicked up a rock or something - SMACK. I wasn't near any vehicle - I was easily the "1 car length for every 10 mph" distance from anyone.
It happened on my SX4 2 years after having the windshield replaced - luckily it was just a tiny chip and was fixed several years ago and has been fine since.
My wife hates following close and typically sticks to the limit, 5 over tops when she drives - and she's come home with a chipped and cracked windshield.
My JT wasn't a year old and I was so very concerned about the sand blasting that happens on our highways, and paint chipping I was avoiding getting too close to anyone, and I hate following trucks and if I can, I move over so I'm not directly behind them and yet - rock hit, eventually cracked. I'm on second windshield and it's got a good half dozen tiny chips already. Can't see then unless you clean the glass but they are there.
Was on I35 headed to Ames with my wife in the passenger seat in my JT last weekend. Was doing the limit - spot on the limit as going through Ankeny those folks will nail you. A truck passed us and pulled back over into our lane (I was in the middle). He was hauling sand and such and you could hear it like we were being sand blasted. I moved over to the far left lane - luckily other traffic was light so I could stay over there until he got way ahead of us. I noticed other vehicles didn't follow him either.
You can be a fine driver, not follow too close, stay away from trucks hauling crap and still get nailed.

My glass got trashed on out vacation traveling through NV, UT, CO, NM, and AZ......6 hits over 4300 miles. 5 from trucks passing in the opposite direction and one by a car that passed us and cut in too soon.

I haven't taken that much enemy fire in my entire life combined!

I remember thinking all these peeps on here breaking 3 a year must be tailgaters........
