#3 i have a bodyarmor 5136 from amazon. the greater width provides the most protection when dropping off of a ledge. i don't use it as a step as i have a swing out adjustable ladder on the inside of the tailgate. (older guy i am) i hope it will protect my bumper mounted spare tire in the event of being rear ended.

I also have the BodyArmor4x4 skid. Ran everything in Moab multiple times. I believe I bought on Amazon. It's around $170 from BA. Love it.

I too have been looking at them (the wider plate type), but as rear crash protection as we don't have to worry about rocks around here. I'm just wondering if the slight addition to the vehicle's overall length will preclude me from using my already maxed out garage depth.

The extra protection is a big part of the equation for me. But man! Some of those are topping out at $300.
I am leaning towards the wider plate type because of (my perception) the possible added protection.

I think I’ve decided on this one. And maybe mount it upside down until I go out to a trail.

I went with the Body Armor as well. Held up well after almost 5 years. Have to had to touch up the paint a few times after dragging it so it didn't rust too bad. 1/4" steel and wide coverage for the towing chain loops

I had to put a hitch clamp plate over the top of it because of the rattling. So it takes a little more effort to take it off and on (A U bolt with a plate on top and you can only get an open end wrench on them)

Well worth the $130 off of Amazon

Used the Body Armor version in the past. May go to the small aluminum style to save weight on cross country trips with the trailer. But that sound when it scrapes... Old fashioned blackboard squeal!

Also chose aluminum skid plates to save weight.

Nice Roll Bar. I like the retro look of it.

I went with the Body Armor. It has held up to anything I have thrown at it in the last 5 years. It fully covers all parts of the hitch receiver and allows me use its as a slider without fear of destroying anything important. I honestly can't imagine wheeling without it at this point

#1 worked great for me. This is day one, after running Fins & Hell's with 3.5" lift and 37's.
