Horn Honk when left Running

Did anyone ever find a way to turn off the horn honking when closing the door while leaving it running?

There have been some threads on this, but I can't find any of them. I remember scanning through them, but didn't really pay attention since it wasn't an issue with my Overland. Now that I have a new High Altitude, it is a bit of an annoyance.

I also did the same as you. My 2020 JTR, it didn't do it. Now my 2023 JTM does and I don't remember seeing if anyone has found a fix. So far I have come up empty.

Go into settings on the radio screen. It's hidden in there somewhere.
I used it on my '20 Rubi to shut off honks.

That's the honk when locking the doors.

Starting with, I believe MY '22, it honks three times if you get out and close the door with the engine running. I went through all the settings in the head unit and couldn't find anything.

I'm sure you know this but its there to keep someone from parking it in their garage then getting out with it still running. I read one thread where they went out the next morning and the jeep was still running (carbon monoxide and all).
I guess these are so quiet now you might not hear it running when you get out of the thing.

It is a hassle when you just want to run into the store and want to leave it running.

The engines on my Overland and my High Altitude are very quiet.

I understand why it is there, like the Auto Park feature, people have to be protected from themselves now.

Not everyone parks in an enclosed space. It would be nice to have the option to be able to turn it off, even if it was only until the next start like ESS.

If no one has come up with an option, I guess I'll have to look at connecting a relay to an Aux Switch to interrupt the feed to the horns.

Well, at least there is an option. I'm not willing to buy a Tazer just for that. Guess I'll pull out the leftover light harness and see if I can use a relay on the feed to the horns.

I believe the honk indicates the key fob has left the vehicle while it is running. I'm not sure and I know you can turn it off with a taser. Try leaving the fob in the vehicle......

You can't lock it if you leave the FOB in it...

The Taser kills it. I made a lot of changes with my Taser. However, even though I hate the beeping, I left it on for the rare occasion I get distracted and don’t turn the car off. More of a problem with my wife’s car since it is "push a button to park then push a button to turn off the car". Too many button pushes for me—getting used to one almost blew my brain.

If only it was less obnoxious/loud. I have a car that has the same thing but the sound is more like chime than a honk.

I tried that - did nothing about leaving it running, taking the fob with you and closing the door. I just never leave it running, no matter what, or if it's in my own driveway, I just don't close the door.
I found that setting in JSCAN a couple of years ago and tried it - didn't stop the 3 quick honks when taking the fob out of a running vehicle.

My 2020 never did that. My 2022 does.
I compared settings - they are identical for both vehicles, that setting was the same for the 2020 as the 2022, and yet the 20 never honked, the 22 does.
