I believe it is a pricing issue, plain and simple. I'm a guy who wanted a Brut but couldn't swing $100K even though it was "the perfect vehicle." Fast forward to the Gladiator announcement, I'm the first guy at the dealership when they displayed a Black, loaded Rubicon Gladiator. It was gorgeous, and then I looked at the sticker: $64K. The reality was I'd have to come out of pocket with cash on top of trading in a 2018 F150 Supercrew Lariat LOADED including a Whipple supercharger making 750HP with full dealer warranty. Until prices come down to reality, I'm sticking with the F150 unfortunately.
Your trade in would never be a on the lot truck for sale and sent straight to auction with most dealerships. You would be better off private party selling it than expecting anything near what you perceive it is worth with that supercharger mod.

Patience always pays off dealing with Car Dealers.
It may take a year, and you may not get every option you want but you will find something thats an excellent value.

Too early to tell if the JT will be a flop but, this salesman makes some good points after 2 full months of being on sale and available.

Really nothing new, but I think he did a good job outlining the pros/cons. Also, seemed pretty neutral (how often do you see that with a sales person) with his points.

I do disagree with his comment that most people are financially savvy...

I keep checking the Jeep search tool, there are now about 127 JTs within 25 miles of my house in North VA. Some dealers are still charging a lot over MSRP. Found one charging $15K over MSRP in MD - clueless! However, I also found a couple of dealers charging 3% below MSRP in VA and MD.

What it really boils down to is the price of the add ons that is stopping people buying....2 k for automatic and 2k for power windows and doors? The msrp prices are nowhere near what most people are paying and 46k for sport and almost 60k for a rubi is definitely not the right price range for jeeps.....range rovers and raptors can be had for that

You're an idiot... :punch:
cause I say so...

You KNOW I'm kidding, with you.

but
I maintain HE IS an idiot.
Idiot, asshole, or c. ALL OF THE ABOVE... :CWL:

Well he probably won't be employed very long. And he was kinda boring about it. We will have to see on this. I like the theory that's sports sales could warm up the sales figures, and agree this might be hiccups during a rollout not lackluster sales results. But it ain't so to say this thing is selling out as fast as they make em. Interesting quarters ahead.

I'll hopefully add to the sales figures soon when I can find a Sport. I have a truck, an 88 F250 460 4x4 1 ton HD built that moved a whole tree off my road the other day. It does all the grunt work. I'm a buyer that wants a Gladiator.
forgot to add that i beat to death a briarwood and a cherokee and they only stopped running because i crashed them in the woods and didn't properly rehab them....or me!

I watched the video and my question is that he full on compares the JLU to the Gladiator for hauling?? I mean it would be the same as saying that you should buy a 4 runner instead of a Tacoma because with the seats folded down they haul the same. The both have the same interior just like the Gladiator and JL. I honestly think that it is too new to tell how it will do. I know that when I mention getting a Gladiator most people have no idea what I am talking about. Honestly, I think most people end up buying a car they have seen on the road and decide they like. No one but us real Jeep people even know about it and are ready to buy. I do agree that there are an awful lot of people out there that say "if Jeep builds it I will buy one" but are nowhere to be found when they hit the dealer lots. I am also wondering about what market he is in and what the prices are on the ones he has. I am sure that sport with a lift and tires has at least an 8 to 10 k mark up. At least that is what I have seen from dealers that have added lifts and tires.

US sales numbers for June on the Gladiator were 4231 and 7252 for the year so far. Considering it just came out I'd say those are good numbers. If it keeps on that trend they'll sell somewhere around 50,000. I don't know if that can be considered a flop. I guess you have to do some analysis on conquest sales and what effect it has on the JL or even Ram 1500 sales.

On the other hand ... He pretty much nailed my demographic.

I was totally interested in his points, since they checked mine one after the other. Would have purchased day one at a price point. Love the jeep. He distanced the 2 door as not part of this talk. He diminished specs; I don't give a shit about Compar-o. I stopped responding to my SP after month of hello.. I just won't pay the millennial bullshit economic analysis price points. Basically what he said.

if the old adage holds that one phone call is worth X amount of votes/purchases, then there are thousands of sidelined buyers waiting like me. Back in early plywood, my point was always "yo car industry, you real real fucked up on a significant segment of buyers like me who had to bail your asses out, and you oughta consider that when pricing, in fact, you oughta have an I'm sorry 0 interest loan from FCA and discounts pricing". They crushed a vintage Jeep in an advertisement, stupidly.

Now this jackass comes out yelling flop and everyone is on his ass for being a bad salesman. Sorry Bros, he is talking right to me, and homers aren't. F

FCA went back to old habits, aimed high in the segment, and if there is ONE JT on the lot in this immense demand environment, then it is flop. Or at least missed opportunity for Jeep.

Ok, tell me why I'm an idiot.

FCA is in it to make money - if they price it so there are none on the lots and they all sell immediately, they priced it way too low. Richmond area has 4 listed for sale in the area on cars.com. Either local dealers aren't able to get any stock or have priced them way too low. Contrast to that, there are 54 Tacomas for sale in the area. You tell me which is priced too high.

I'm no expert, but I don't expect this to be a flop but the new best thing

Pickups are the new luxury sedan, and the fact it's a Jeep AND you can make it an topless adds to the appeal, plus since 85% will be automatic's, it'll also sell well for those who "Might need to tow" at "some point in their lives"

If Jeep didn't allow its greedy dealers to tack on ridiculous overcharges and order them to sell at fair price when the Gladiator is way over priced to begin with and if Jeep wasn't so incomptent and made a complete nightmare out of the most anticipated launch ever they would have sold in then 10s or thousand in May and June, I love the Gladiator but Jeep and its Dealers take every opportunity to screw its most loayl customers and the very people responsible for Jeep's success,

Plenty of avenues shown to get below invoice pricing if one shops around. I get the sentiment, but I am not on the bandwagon of forcing a business into price controls. A little socialistic there. Market always finds a level. It is not like they are holding the cure for cancer hostage.
