Called the dealership service department and the person said they are not sure when it will get done. She said to just take the vehicle and when parts are available, they will call me to bring it back in. Probably won’t happen that way, since I’m 6 hours away. I’ll try my hardest to just take it to my local dealership.
Get a loaner and leave it there

So, the dealer responses to this are all over the map. Some made lists of owners and are working them off in order, some are getting parts, even though their is a warehouse strike, ... one thing seems consistent is they are working on their unsold inventory before fixing trucks on the road.

My dealer won't even schedule an inspection of my Glad until parts become available again... they have no list, and won't tell me when the parts become available, I have to call them every week/day/hour...just to find out status.

Oh, and they say they are booked for inspections out until December. How does that happen if they aren't booking inspections?!?

So I made an appointment in January, ... only problem is I snowbird for the winter, so I'll have to park the Glad, take my trusty JK south, and book a flight back to fix the Glad.

... seems odd, ... I bought the Glad because my JK had 120k mi and I wanted a reliable daily driver. Now it has 150k (plus another 40k towed behind an RV) and its my old reliable again!ff

I bought the new High Altitude Diesel yesterday. 16 miles on the odometer. I forgot to take the copy of the repair sheet and the window sticker (left them at the salesman’s desk), but they replaced the complete fuel system. Drove 4 hours (240 miles) after picking it up in San Antonio, driving against a North head wind of 25mph, with 35mph wind gusts. Average mpg of ~23 at speeds of 65-70 mph. RPMs mostly under 2000. Drove great with plenty of power.

So they did the fuel pump before you took it home? I’m trying to get the dealer to change it out before I pick it up.

Yes, but this is not the gladiator diesel that I ordered back in March. This was one on a dealership lot that I saw advertised. They would only let me pick it up after the repair was completed.. They replaced the fuel pump plus a bunch of other parts that I don’t remember from the list. They had received the new fuel pump, and I had to initially wait an additional week on a new fuel line.

mine should be ready for pickup today. They started work on it yesterday, no metal visible during the inspection so at least my first one wasn't about to explode. They had to overnight a new fuel line as I don't think they realized they are a one time use connection part as others have pointed out on here.

Just got my vehicle back from the recall. First, my vehicle stinks like diesel now. I’m sure they spilled a bit but I can’t get to it. Also, now after a drive there is an obnoxiously loud buzzing sound coming from the new fuel pump area when the vehicle is turned off. Dealer explained this is the turbo cooling cycle. This goes on for 2-5 minutes then stops after shutdown but never did before…like I said, it’s loud. Other than that it drives the same. I’ll post when I figure out why the significant increase during cooldown.

Off topic: Dealership gave a Willy’s (gas) Gladiator as a loaner for the week. I honestly can’t believe how different that vehicle drove than the diesel. The diesel weight increase alone truly stabilizes the vehicle. The gas NEVER stayed in 8th gear due to lack of torque. Lastly, I’m not sure the mechanical differences between the two transmissions but the diesel transmission is unbelievably refined in comparison.

Same exact thoughts. The buzzing is coming from the fuel solenoid on top of the cp4. I don’t think it is anything to do with turbo cooling. Mine made noise when shutting it off before, but it’s more pronounced.

I do think it’s frustrating that they upped the required fuel filter changes to every oil change…. that’s real money….

All my other diesels I’ve owned are done annually and are fine.

Rock auto has usa made fuel filters for 37$ plus sh. The buzzing is the fuel pump. Maybe it's an updated solenoid. The diesel transmission is an actual German made ZF, like bmw and Mercedes uses. The gas version is a chrysler copy, not as good.

the more I read these threads the more I want to trade my Diesel in. But the fact that I got a really good price plus under 3% interest and the fact hat new ones are heavily discounted I think I am stuck with this for a while lol.

I'll be honest.
After having the Mojove for a month, and getting back into the diesel I'll say a few things.

For all city driving, the Mojove was so much more pleasant to deal with, its way lighter, handles better, has significantly better throttle response vs my rubicon diesel. It was better to drive in traffic, it soaked up pot holes, and speed bumps a lot better, and just felt more attached to the road... It didn't wonder at all....

But after having my diesel back.... if you are using your Jeep as a Jeep, and have added any weight or bigger tires / lift.... The diesel is the better choice. The torque at 1500 RPMs is nearly 2x the 3.6 at a much higher RPM... especially at altitude.

For me I tow quite a bit with my trailer, and am lifted on bigger tires...

I was honestly thinking after all this I would get rid of the jeep and get something else... I am now reconsidering that...... I do want it to wonder a bit less, and not react to road crown as much... I think I can solve that with some suspension improvements.

Anyways as much as I gripe... I do really like my jeep.

I think people worry too much. These are far superior in quality than the first truck I bought new in 1981 (and at 17.9% financing).

So, I got under my jeep today to see if I could find the diesel they spilled completing the recall….uh yeah the pump is leaking and onto my belt. Crazy thing is the leak is getting worse so it will be getting towed tomorrow. I tried to take a pic but it’s a PIA to get one that far up from underneath the vehicle.

use a paint pen and mark the wet belt somewhere to verify they don't reuse it.
