... I realized I need to regear.

A year of mostly city driving kept me blissful ignorant. Then a trip from South San Francisco to Sacramento, in mostly 6th gear, has brought me to the reality that 35s on 3.75 gears are not ideal.

Now my question to you good people, 4.11 or 4.88 Gears? Like I said, mostly city miles but that trip to Sac was a little unnerving.

I’m at 35s and 3.73s right now

I’m going to wait til 37s til I regear and I’ll go 4.88. The math says closer to 4.56 but the 3.6 is happier in a place on the freeway that will be better with 4.88s

I think anything deeper is overkill on an auto

Liquor Attorney. So not all bad...
I have been studying this. I have 35s and the 6MT on stock 4.10 gearing. 4.56 is the minimum I would go to if I had to for gas mileage - that is what the JL Extreme Recon will run. I believe 4.88s are optional and will be the standard gearing on the JT Extreme Recon if and when it is ever offered. if I had to do it myself I would go to 4.88. Again - this is for 6MT vehicles. Different for automatics because they have more gears and more even ratio spreads...

I would only consider either 4:88 or 5:13.
I have the 6 speed, and 5:13s (with 37s) is perfect for it.

Do not forget how much more acceleration you get stop light to stop light with the 4:88 or 5:13. The torque multiplication is outstanding. The performance alone is worth the change.

Couldn’t agree more. With 37’s I’d go to 4.88 if you don’t tow. I tow and on mountain grades, so am going to 5.13 with the 37’s going on next month.

I'd want 5.13 with 37s.

RPM will be 2,300-2,400 at 70 which is perfect.

4.88 for sure. Should do well all-around for 35s.

Not 4.11, not 4.56.

Mostly city driving, definitely go deeper. I'd say either 4.88s or 5.13s, but honestly it'd be hard to tell the difference between the two. Just pick one and go. If you have ANY thoughts of going larger than 35's, or even picking a heavier 35, definitely 5.13s

I ran into a similar problem with my Sport S 6-speed while loaded with kayaks & camping gear. I’ll be re gearing to 4.88’s with 35’’ tires & have a centerforce clutch on order.

Just did a quick look for re-gear, who would you recommend getting them from? Does it matter if mine is a Rubi with the 6 M/T?

Yep ... I'm on 35's with 4.10's and I feel I'm just skating by. If I ever decide to put in lockers I'll re-gear to at least 4.56 ... 4.88's or 5.13's if you ever plan to run 37's +
