Happen to know any stats regarding the wifi? When I say stats, i mean if it is a paid subscription like most vehicles or is it just straight up free? Assuming paid sub with maybe a month or two free to try out?

I agree wireless is nice but it also zaps your battery. My Dodge ram has wireless and I still us a cord because of that.

I use the ZTE hot spot plugged into a added USB port that only come on with the ignition on
I use T-MOBILE cell service for $10 a month for the hot spot
I like the ZTE because it has a manual on and off switch and I leave it in the on position so as soon as it get power it turns on
Some hot spot you will have to turn on every time
I got this one on Ebay $20

You just need to get a wireless charger, no more plugging in your phone. I got this one off A'zon. It is not a super fast charge but does charge while Carplay is wireless. I put it on the cover to the little secret compartment in front of the shifter (under the media ports).

I dont really love any of the aftermarket radio solutions. The Insane Audio with this becomes one of the most expensive solutions once you factor in the added costs of adding a separate wifi adapter. Though at some point you have to figure if you get 80% of what you want out of it and the cost works its a good upgrade over the stock setup.

You do not need a separate Wifi adapter. It will connect to your Wifi on you phone
I just choose to use a separate hot spot as my Wifi connection

I have two jeeps
2018 Rubicon with factory 8.4
2020 Willys with insane JL4001
I tried to get my GAIA maps to work with the 8.4 put it was limited on what I could see
I could not get my downloaded maps to work on the 8.4
On the JL4001 you get every thing that I had set up on my computer including the trail that I used last weekend from HW49 up over the ridge to Dorrinton HW4. Worked perfectly

So it doesn't have wifi. Just wifi capabilities like the 3001. Got it.

Looks pretty nice especially since it doesn't have that "insane audio" in 80's looking font.

Not gonna lie... When I was shopping for my Gladiator, I was considering a lower trim and building up the stereo myself. The IA headunit looked cool and all, but admittedly the branding kind of killed it for me. From the graffiti font to even just the "insane" name... I just got Guy Fieri draped in Ed Hardy vibes from it, vs. a premium audio company... like Alpine, Sony, Pioneer...

As it were, I ended up getting the JTM with Alpine system - and to my surprise, it does everything I want, and I am happy with the sound. Sure the screen could be bigger, and it could have wireless CarPlay, but the factory HU does everything I want/need. I may still upgrade the speakers/amp at some point, but thats like at the bottom of my mod list.

I think when some people are asking about Wifi, they are asking if it can be a wifi hotspot, like the 8.4 radio does (with a paid data plan).

As far as I know the JL4001 must hook up to a hot spot witch I believe most cell phone have
On my T-MOBILE plan it is free for my cheap $180 phone put like I said I choose to use a dedicated hot spot mounted in the jeep mostly for convenience at $10 more a month
I prefer a dedicated tool for a dedicated job. Put thats me

The unit appears to have Android built in. If that's correct then you can run any Android apps online or offline, so mapping, navigation, etc. Android apps that have the capability to download offline maps would work.
