when I was at orientation, my first day at BMW, the speaker asked our group what was one big thing that affected Chryslers sales? I replied “Lee Iacocca”. He laughed, said “Yes, but what else?” I replied “Quality”, and he said “Exactly”. That was his point, quality can make or break a car company.
LOL - quality........and yet in the 1990s, Chrysler had to merge with Daimler-Benz. That pissed investors off so Chrysler was again sold and then ended up with Fiat.

I worked on a few of those quality vehicles. If things were so good, wonder why they needed a bailout from a foreign company.
Sales so poor that Plymouth was shut down.

All we have to do is get gas back to $3 a gallon and offer the Gladiator with a real engine. Gas engines are clean enough.

Right after I bought my Bronco, it had a recall, and was in the shop for a week. They gave me a K-car for a loaner. That was the biggest piece of junk I have ever driven. Also, I had meant the poor quality of Chrysler products during the Iococca years.

I hope my Gladiator will be the last new vehicle I have to buy. I plan on taking care of it, and it lasting me a long long time. If they do discontinue it, maybe I’ll have a future classic. Back in the day, I looked at an Eagle, (I’m jealous, shadowspapa!), a Scrambler, and a Bronco. Bought the Bronco, and kept it for 30 odd years.
I've had multiple Eagles. Enjoyed every one of them. Fun vehicles.

Seriously, why would I want gas prices to hit 3 bucks again? That would be just silly -

When Chrysler bought AMC in 1987, even Stevie Wonder could see it was not going to bode well going forward with the aging legacy AMC factories and products and Chrysler was going to gut and only save what was going to make them money.
Been to the former factory sites, for sure, the buildings were aged, the equipment worn, no cash to buy new.
AMC sold their differential/axle tooling and equipment and so forth to Dana in the 80s, divested themselves of their plastic works and other assets, wasn't enough.
Sad that they got tangled with Renault - it forced them to sell off AM General because of the foreign connection being a no-no with government contracts. (yet today it doesn't seem to matter)

what do I get for $2.31 @ Kum n Go?
Dunno, I usually shop Casey's which is still $2.49 or when around the north part of Ankeny, Costco as it's top tier.
Yeah, that name has really bugged a couple of friends when they see it - Kraus and Gentle, the last names of the two people who founded it many years ago. No one really thinks of it except in online situations.

That's gas prices in Cali 20 years ago :(
That's current - I grabbed that snipped tonight. We've been under 3 bucks for quite a while now.
Couple that with some of the cheapest electricity in the country........
