Funny, FAUXBY4 is the plate on my friend's Ridgeline.

I was just behind one at a tunnel car wash. It took the driver and the attendant about 5 minutes to get the computer to go to Neutral and take off all the brake-hold assist features so they could send it through. The attendant apologized and said they had to get about three layers into the screen menus turning things off before it would allow itself to be washed.

Words cannot express my disdain for modern cars.
Just another reason we don't need all these fucking nannies and "safety" systems.

One expensive brand with sorry Quality Control issues partnering with another brand with poor Quality Control issues. Nothing can go wrong on this one.

Heck if they just brought over a European diesel that was NOT made for a cab over truck like GM did I’d be happy. Looked for months for a decently priced Diesel when I decided to go for a Gladiator and couldn’t find one. Perfectly content with the 3.6 but some of those diesels from across the pond are pretty good.

Let them build a proper defender at Toledo on the JT platform. Use the AJ133 V8. Most likely would be the best product either brand makes.

It's almost certainly tariff avoidance through assembling knock downs in idled plants in different countries.

Bingo. Even though it's the coupling of two legendarily unreliable marques with legendary off road ability, it makes a lot of sense on the balance sheet.

Running the risk of this turning into a political pissing match but the entire reason why so much manufacturing was offshored in the first place: it was cheaper to manufacture overseas and ship back than to do it domestically.

Partnering with a USDM manufacturer with excess assembly capacity avoids import duties and that translates to lower costs/higher profits certainly-- but more importantly it provides high skilled domestic manufacturing jobs with minimal overall cost compared to establishing a new factory.

Maybe if they also reintroduced that Peugeot-built 5 speed manual used back in the '80's would even further enhance the overall quality perception of the joint venture.
