I recently updated my front upper dash speakers to Mopar part; 68043045AD. These speakers were used on the Harman Kardon systems they put in Rams and Grand Cherokees. My Wife had a Grand Cherokee Summit which came standard with the Harman Kardon system and IT WAS AMAZING!

Anyways, Installing these speakers in the upper dash REALLY REALLLLLY brought the system to life with real tweeters and with its mid range driver (its a 2 way coaxial speaker).

The stock alpine system sounds fine, but its always muddy they do not have a real tweeter, rather have a standard speaker trying to play the upper frequencies like those old boom boxes ... Now it pops, snaps and twinkles with sound. The detail and crispness is amazing!

Personally, I love that its all OEM and sounds GREAT, I have built aftermarket systems in my other jeeps and this is just downright fantastic, perhaps a bit bright with a flat EQ, but I may still be adjusting ...

I am tempted to buy another pair and install in the soundbar.

Also would like to know if there's any tweaking to get them in or do they drop right in. Need to take the covers off mine and vacuum the sand anyway so while I'm at it could do a little upgrade.

I agree, the Alpine system sounds good, atleast good enough for me. With one exception, like you mentioned, the dash speakers need upgraded.

I stuffed and upgraded mine and I also stuffed the overhead speakers.

I installed some JBL Club 322F 3.5 inch 2-Way Car Speakers.

So far I'm enjoying the upgrade.

There ya go! I gotta fixation on staying OEM. But whatever works. Surprising there isn’t a real tweeter. But alpine doesn’t sound bad, impressive for a stock jeep. Perhaps barely ok for a 75,000 vehicle ?. If my LJ sounded this good, I’d be doing backflips.

I would have preferred oem, I didn't realize the HK were available at the time.
But
It's one of those upgrades that if I didn't tell you, you wouldn't know...

I couldn't believe how bad the original oem were once I pulled them out and actually got a look at them. A good tweeter is definitely needed. But I wouldn’t say enough to use a component setup.

In my younger years, my system would have probably cost more than the Jeep ? but now that I'm more mello , it doesn't take much to drive some talk radio ??

NONE. We use tiny 4.5” mid-drivers and an 8” sub. The HK system uses these

The soundbar can accommodate larger speakers with some trimming. 6.5" speakers will fit.

I reread this and to answer your question, the same speakers are used in the soundbar. Along with a 3.5”, 4” or 4.5” driver, I can’t remember.
