just buy a wrangler with a 3.6, all you can get in that option is the 6 speed....
Stella is doing some weird games to get their house in order, i don't really think they know what they are doing either.

I suspect EPA, and mileage mandates have more to do with going auto only. If I recall correctly even Porsche is going all auto.

I was pretty sure I was keeping mine forever but this seals it. Manual JT Rubicon goes the way of Manual LJ Rubicon.

is the auto clearly an improvement in mileage over the manual?

Saw this earlier, didn't see a corresponding post here.

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a...adiator-loses-its-manual-transmission-option/

Regardless of the opinions on the clutch, it does seem a bit of a shame to lose the option completely. I have enjoyed the hell out of my manual Rubi.
I was reading on this earlier today and its an absolute shame but it makes me happier that I got the gladi mojave I did in manual. For me that was the main selling point. Like I wanted a truck but love manuals. So that left me with a tacoma or a gladi. But ive always liked jeeps too so it was the best of both worlds. Them taking this option away and not even having it available for special order is sad. If i were to get an auto itd only be in the diesel which also isnt available.

Overall, I think its a shame that most modern vehicles today dont come in manuals as a whole and unfortunately, manuals will eventually be completely phased out in the US.

I actually had this same question so I went out and took a look at the lifetime MPG on mine.....17.7, which seems reasonable to me. According to the EPA the manual and the auto with the 3.6 are identical in combined MPG at 19.

Honestly, fuel efficiency was just not something I even remotely considered when buying the truck. Just wanted to row gears and actually drive the thing instead of zoning out for the entire commute. Guess I'm old, lol. I still enjoy the ACT of driving.

Sad... We have had lots of fun with our Gladiator Rubicon - Manual tranny... With 5:13 gears, 37s, & a 3.5" lift, it has been great in all different types of terrain. For Rock Crawling, We have done the Rubicon Trail twice, the Badge of honor Big Bear trails numerous times, other difficult trails in Johnson Valley, etc... It is too bad the manual tranny fun dies in 2025 in the Gladiator....
Note: 2020 with 71K miles with stock Clutch that is still working great...

Ironically enough, the 3.6 liter V6 will only be available with a manual in the Wrangler. I too suspect this has more to do with EPA and CAFE numbers and arbitrary standards than profits.

I only know what I’ve read. Not sure I’ve seen 8 speed ( or higher) manuals. Auto’s will shift earlier, smoother, more consistent than manuals. Modern auto’s are not the same as the ones i grew up with.

Hmmmm, collector's item? Cool!

We have the stick in our Gladiator. I wanted to "buy American" and the stick was the primary reason the Jeep got the nod. I also did not want to horse a full sized truck around.

The MOPAR car show visitors sure like my 1990 Dakota Sport factory convertable with the 5-speed.

I really like my 2004 cadillac with the Tremec 6-speed. Nobody thinks manual in a Cadillac.

A manual is a wonderful millennial theft dissuader. My wife and I prefer them.

There have been article that the manual was going away completely from all vehicles. I think the only manual mid sized truck will be the Tacoma now and for cars it is probably the Subaru WRX and the BRZ which is also the Toyota FRS. Odd they are saying the V6 Wrangler next year will only be manual and wonder if really only auto and the journalist have it backwards?
