Mojave MPG Concerning

So I just got a new Mojave and did not purchase it for mileage but I expected better. My JLUR with 3.6L averages around 16.3 for my normal driving with heavy beadlock aftermarket wheels and heavy mud tires. It doesn't seem to matter how much I drive the MPG on the cluster always seems to settle around 16.3MPG. My new JT Mojave has been averaging 14MPG. The other day going 70 down a flat highway it was yielding 14.5MPG. My JLUR would fetch me around 19MPG in this scenario. Truck is brand new and completely stock with a factory bed cover. Has about 400 miles on it now. Should I be concerned or is this the norm?

The front end aero makes a big difference on the JL/JT. That's why I always urged guys NOT to remove the aero fins from the area between fender and bumper on the Sport models.

In the case of the Mojave, not only are those aero pieces not there, but you've also got a model specific skid shield to protect the shock reservoirs that catches a lot of wind. All the various trims are going to see different MPG due to aero differences.

Agreed....engine is not broken in and therefore not as efficient as it will eventually be...

I know they claim there is no engine break in period, but I noticed a significant change around 3500 miles. I am usually in the mid 16s on my LE.

That is surprising, I got around 21mpg on my first tank, Sport with max tow. Hard to believe the smaller tires and aero front bumper could make that much difference.

I started out around 16 or 17 on my Sport S. Currently around 24.

I just got back from a trip to Moab in my Mojave. It is about 3.5 hours away, ran a trail and drove back. I noticed that my MPGs were in the 16 range after that trip. (I never look at MPG, I just drive and put gas in when it needs it) I have less than 3000 miles on my Jeep and am pulling that average number after a long drive over some decent passes etc... at 70+ MPH and a few hours of wheeling in 4Low.

Seems like we are all over the place with MPG. Does anyone else think they should have to report mileage for each specific trim. Putting the same mileage on a rubicon/mojave that goes on the sports window sticker seems criminal. I knew I would never see the 23 on the sticker but was hoping for better. I'll report back if I see improvement in a few thousand miles.

Agreed with the above saying don't sweat it until ~1500mi or so. Still working that way on my JTR, but I remember when I got my JLUR, the MPG was awful for the first 1500-2000mi.

On my stock so far Mojave I’m getting 18.9 average. Mostly side street driving. Are you lead footed?

I have been averaging roughly 19-20 MPG since new on my Mojave, and that's with M/T. I do believe ones driving technique has a lot to do with ones MPG
