Are Falcon 3.3 SP2 overrated?

Update on the original thread:

I installed the Falcon 3.3's on the Mojave. The install went well besides the fact it was below zero and freezing out (Glady barley fits in garage).

First impressions are good, install went smooth. The shocks are set to soft, with daily setting at 2.4. I ran the truck on the interstate and a forest road close by. I'm no longer slamming my bump stops on speed bumps, or rocking back and forth like a ragdoll on uneven terrain.

I'm pleased with my decision.

Factory shocks are on their way to Shock Surplus for a full rebuild. I will be posting these for sale in the coming weeks.

same thing I’ve been getting
John, let me know if you need yours rebuilt. I'm in the northeast Houston area and can meet you half way for pickup, rebuild them, and drop off to save you on shipping.

How are you like your decision after a few months?

I am going to 4.5" Evo springs and the 3.3 SP2s.

I'm pretty happy with the set-up. I have yet to really get it trail tested for lack of time and weather (Father of 2 under 3); I will be soon with the weather improving. I really enjoy the adjustability. All set-ups are a balance of compromises. The Fox Factory set-up soaked up more of the road/trail feedback, but the Falcon's prevent body roll and keep my bump stops from getting a constant workout.

I came from years in the Yota world and have run everything from Bilstein to King's ($-$$$$). There is always something to nit-pick on. I was hoping for a set-up I don't need to rebuild consistently (Kings) as this is my current DD and hunting/mountain rig.

The Fox's are solid, and I hope my rebuilt factory setup will find a home, but I'm overall happy with the Falcon's.

I too am going in this direction. I had the Mopar 2" lift on my Gladiator Sport S and liked the much needed height for off-road use.
I removed the Mopar lift and kept it for my new Gladiator. I even rebuilt the fox 2.5 monotube shock in anticipation of reusing the entire lift. However, i could not find a good deal on a Sport S or Rubicon model gladiator. I did get a great deal on a 2024 Mojave with 3,000 miles on the OD.
Obviously this throws a curveball into reusing the Mopar 2" lift as the front shocks cannot be used on the Mojave.
I am not happy with the ride quality of the Mojave when off-road. It is sprung so soft that it makes constant contact with the bump stops. I do like the beefed up frame & Steel steering knuckles for my overlanding use.
My solution is to use my Mopar 2" lift springs, bump stops, and LCA's and use the Falcon SP2 3.3's instead of the Fox 2.5's that came with the lift.
I'll contribute to this thread more as I get some miles on the new setup.

*the stock height of the gladiator lends itself to getting hung up in the middle and the tail drags on everything. A 2" lift is a minimum requirement if doing anything more than pavement or gravel roads. Spacer lifts don't add articulation and don't fix the overly soft ride.

FYI just posting my experience. Sent my stock Mojave Fox shocks off to Shock Surplus back in July. I'm happy with the work they did. I only had one shock leaking, the others were not at 45,000 miles. Thus, not sure I notice much difference other than the front one that was leaking.

Overall I'm happy with the service they provided and the communication working with them was awesome. Whether a rebuild of these shocks is the right direction or not, who knows seems all performance shocks are going to need some attention at some point. Whether there is a difference in these shocks compared to some Bilstein 5100s, who knows, I don't have them on my Mojave so hard to really know.

Shock Surplus made the whole rebuild process pretty easy and affordable for shipping by providing a prepaid UPS label. I boxed up my shocks and dropped them off at the UPS store and crossed my fingers. 26 days later my shocks were back on the Jeep. The main rebuild guy was on vacation for a portion of this so a quicker turnaround is likely possible. The price seems reasonable and the shipping wasn't too bad considering the shocks went from FL to CA and back. I had trouble finding a local or closer shop to do the rebuild. All in it cost me $1036. Still less money than the other performance shocks available albeit not quit as adjustable.
YMMV

Just a heads up for anyone else looking, we offer a shock exchange for the JTM OEM Fox 2.5 IBP shocks. We have inventory sets of JTM shocks that we rebuild, ship directly to you where you can simply swap them out with your worn out set, and send the old set back to us. This limits your down time from weeks to just the 2-3 hours it would take you to swap them out. Several shock rebuilders have offered this for the Raptors, and I believed we needed that option for our Mojave's. We ship rebuilt Mojave Fox shocks nationwide and have helped customers from California to Massachusetts and everywhere in between.

If interested, just shoot an email over to [email protected].

My experience with Blake and All-Terrain Shock Solutions was exceptional. Very pleased with the results and the back to new feeling. I was a little nervous about the external appearance of the shocks I would receive but they looked brand new. I really enjoyed being able to keep driving my truck while I waited for the rebuild units to arrive then turn around and return the ā€˜core’ units to Blake. Seamless process.

I mentioned it in a different thread, but I'll mention it here too. Working with Blake and All-Terrain Shock Solutions was awesome! He beat the timeframe he mentioned up front and the rebuilt shocks were in great shape! As mentioned above, not having the Jeep down for days was very helpful. I was able to swap out the shocks in just a few hours.
