Damn I hate fine print. What about the don't use with DPF/DEF systems tho? It says low ash but then says No DPF use for most manufacturers

I'd guess the dealer did just that. If not, they're on the hook for the warranty. I wouldn't worry.

I wouldn’t overly stress as it looks like it meets the other spec, and most modern engine oils are pretty damn good quality nowadays. I think the original frustration from the guy might have just been the principle of taking it in, paying a “factory certified technician” to use “OEM parts and lubricants”, paying the $300 for an oil change on the your ecodiesel to find out they don’t do any of that there.

It only says don't use with DPF for Audi and VW.

Under passenger cars, light trucks, and SUVs, there isn't any restriction against using with DPF.

Thats what i eventually discovered. I wanted a definitive answer. Ended up at VM Motori looking over specs for the A630 (ecodeisel designation code) they confirm any SAE certified 5w-40 is adequate, and recommend Shell. Did you know the EcoDiesel also has a Marine application sibling? That was pretty cool, or at least i thought so.

So, um, Kendall is not an "off-brand".

If this causes so much stress, buy a socket set and start doing your own oil changes? You're already mostly there if you're bringing your own oil to independent shops. That's like taking your own ground beef to McDonalds.

Where I live in SW Ohio there is a local pennzoil distributor who delivers bulk oil to many if not all local dealership.
One kind for diesel and one for gas…he backs up to the bulk tanks and fills them up.
I don’t know where the OP lives but they probably have a similar setup with a local jobber.
So if he wants to take the time to call or visit dealers in his area he might find that many/most/all use the same local oil jobber/distributor for their bulk oil needs.
Who knows there might be Kendall quick lube locations in his area similar to the Pennzoil quick lube locations in other areas.
As others have mentioned Kendall is a very old company with a long history and in order to stay afloat these days they have to provide an oil that is compliant with modern automotive standards.

I have herd of Kendall from years ago. Kind of the industrial go to oil used by old guys and hot rod guys. I would use it. I really like the Torco lines but I have Pennzoil in my cabinet. Pens does a great job of marketing that we all pay for. If it's possible, I think Torco is better.

Same in my area with the local dealer. Even though they invoice MOPAR oil by part number on the service ticket, it is all bulk jobber oil. If you want the stuff out of a MOPAR labeled bottle, that is extra.

That is what I would expect from any dealer, or other service providers. I have had many dealer oil changes done. I've not had any issues, so far, and no reason to question the oil used.

I have done oil analysis on all three of my Jeep Wave service oil changes that used their bulk oil and all came back to suggest it was a in spec oil.

I’ve got a Blackstone kit that needs to go back… I’ve just been too lazy to drop off at a blue box. So silly… but I will drop it off next time.. maybe drop off two next time if I keep waiting so long

I ran Kendall in my 65 Mustang back in the 70’s. Built a 289 and ran the Drag races at Lakeland in Memphis Tn . Friend of mines Dad was a rep for Kendall, they’ve sponsored many a funny car. I understand if you want another brand, always check beforehand if your Jeep is picky.
