Just when I came up with a plan to pay off the gladiator next year and be happy… this is very VERY attractive.

I’d prefer the range be 100mi and a little diesel generator say a 1.8 liter TDI VW.

I’m not pro EV but between my wife and I, we’ve had;
Fiat 500e
Chevy Volt
Chevy Bolt
Wrangler 4xe
BMW i3 (each had one) with range extender

I gotta say, having a gas backup makes all the difference … the volt was actually almost perfect. But the i3 probably one of the best EVs around from construction (carbon fiber on cast aluminum frame) and interior, but the 2 gallon range extended needs to be at least 5gal.

The 4xe is trash if an EV platform, but if you work close and want a Jeep that leases for cheap, then it’s a good fit.

Looks pretty good for an EV. Love the bench seat option but I still don’t want an EV. If they had a normal gas engine I’d say take my money!

Interesting, howso? Its a decently priced EV truck that has nice features and specs. Half the price of a cybertruck!

I love the old International Scouts and I'm really digging this...Top doesn't technically come off but they have the sliding soft top like the option on the Wrangler and the rear window rolls down too. This really ticks almost all of my boxes as to what I would want as well in an EV truck...gas extender being a huge one. Might just throw down a deposit and see what happens!

Same here. There's a guy around the corner that has two old Scouts. They're pretty badass to say the least.

As much as we all **want** to take the top off it isn't always an option or even practical, but the sliding top makes open air driving much more likely out of sheer convenience.

Plus a swing-away spare AND bench seat? Take my money.

Curious what the “removable cabana roof” entails exactly.

That sliding top I assume is just on the SUV? Looks interesting for sure. Never had a VW nor any interest in them before though and I’m also curious how the service will work.

I thought it was just on the SUV but the interior shots of the pickup lead me to believe it might be offered on that as well? Frankly, if Jeep offered the Sky Top in the JT I bet they'd sell like crazy. I'd be a buyer.

Far as VW... I had a MkIV Jetta 1.8T. Aside from the Bronco Sport it's the only car I've ever bought brand new. Decent car but not without its issues at the time.

However, subsequent to that VW has done a 180 with reliability and build quality. Their BEV tech is very advanced- they're using similar types of batteries in everything from the ID.4 to the Porsche Taycan from what I gather. I wouldn't hesitate at buying an ID.4 or Scout. I wont be surprised if VW aligns service for Scout with their Audi or Porsche stores at least initially.

Nice - I think I could live with that top option. This definitely has me thinking about it down the road.
