I have a 2020 3.6 Gladiator and I just changed the oil adding 5 quarts. When I warmed up the engine and measured the oil, I barely saw oil on the dip stick. I saw it at the very bottom of the hatch marks. What did I do wrong?

Is there any oil on the floor?

Just make sure you are on level ground and give a couple minutes after you turn off

Warm engine then shut it down, wait 15 minutes, then measure the oil level. Did you measure it almost immediately after shutting down?

Exactly. Oil will be sitting up top until it drains back down which can take time.

Oil cooler should not matter since those typically hold the oil in them - when you change oil you change what is in the pan and filter, not what's in the cooler, so unless a cooler is high and situated so it can drain back, it will make little difference.
(I've never seen need for an additional oil cooler on the 3.6, even towing in hot weather, the oil stays in a reasonable range. These have an oil cooler from the factory that does very well for me)

I bought it brand new.
Just wait a few minutes, I find 10-15 with mine. 5 quarts is correct in any case. As long as you changed the filter and put in 5 quarts, you're good.
But do wait to check. Don't be in a hurry. Don't be in a hurry anyway, you'll do a better job. Hurry-up causes trouble.
Systematic, deliberate, you'll not break or miss anything.

SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS!!! Anything goes wrong and dealership will blame you and request receipts. Going through headache now. Also let engine sit 15-30 mins and then check.

I could have suggested grab a chair, grab a drink, sit and watch the birds for 10-15 minutes, then go back and check.

Wait until the next morning, and remove the dip stick without using a rag.
