Question about adding outlet to bed

Deleted member 28696

I have a 2021 JTR & added the outlet after purchase. Already had the inverter 115v plug in the back seat. Installed it & then never used it. Doesn’t do well with motor loads tried to use a shop vac & wouldn’t power it. Works good with a lamp or radio, griddle & those types of things.

I simply gave up. The bezel switch assy and the harness were on backorder for over half a year. I have the bed plug now. I may try to hook up my own inverter, separate from the one installed from the factory.

Curious about this. What year are your trucks? Mine is a 2021. Wondering if possibly they used a different harness on newer Gladiators who don't order the option.....
Mine is a 2021, (Canadian) and it was there, but it was tied at the back of the wiring harness so I could only access it after pulling everything out. Right now the cargo outlet is working. if you have the back seat outlet you should be good.

How far back was it, was it tied behind the headlight switch harness?

Cool. Thanks I’ll try and get a picture if I find it.
So long as you have the 400W inverter (go to mopar.com and put the VIN in, it will show you everything) you should be okay but the cable might be taped almost at the firewall, if it is, you will need to move the speaker and speaker housing? to get to it, if it is, you will just need to remove the electrical tape and fish it through.

Follow the headlight cables all the way to the back to find it, but it should be there.

So after reading through the whole thread, it seems everyone is using the TAZER, did anyone enable the Bed Outlet via JSCAN?

Im about to order this for my 2020 as I randomly found the video on YouTube and it brought me back here. I have been waiting years for someone to figure it out so im glad it’s possible. Has anyone had an issue installing this on the sport s. Im assuming the wiring behind the bezel is there for all trims? Also, too bad all the parts have gone up in price. It’s about $300 now.

Can't say if anyone here has, but there's no reason it can't be done via JSCAN or even AlfaOBD because it's an option, so will be a yes/no selection in the configuration files likely in the BCM.
