That Ferosticker is very intriguing. Me likes. I'm leaning towards getting 2 or 3, two for the engine bay, maybe one for under the dash.

I live in Texas, where the outside air temp gets way over 100* for weeks/months on end, even in the shade. So just sitting there, the Ferosticker is sensing 100*. Add to that the temperature of a running engine on those days, I'd have to first tape a temp probe in the areas I want to protect to see what it maxes out at before purchase. I'm not concerned while underway, there's always a breeze, I'm concerned that when I run it for hours on end....then park it. Sure, the engine will cool down over time, but what temp is it at when first stopped ? Aluminum engine blocks tend to shed a lot of heat.

Thankfully, if those Ferostickers ever do shit themselves, they don't cause any damage. But I'd hate to drop the coin for them to be deployed on first ride. That would be depressing.

But I tend to greatly overthink things. Welcome to my world. Truly annoys my wife. "Why do you always have to look for the bad things ??". I always say the same response, "Plan for the worst, pray for the best. No surprises.". One time she said, "Is that just a more wordy way to say Be Prepared like a Boy Scout ?" "I was never a Boy Scout. Didn't want to be. They did everything wrong." "Oh. My. God. What's it like in your world ??" "It's a happy place and I'm the King.". That last statement is sure to make her leave the room.... has every time. ;)

I can tell you, I am not the least bit worried about this truck burning down.

But I applaud some of yalls paranoia, or preparedness - depending on how you're looking at it.

I'll admit, I was concerned but not worried. It didn't stop me from driving, it didn't make me take several glances out the window to see if there's smoke. I never looked for the telltale signs of hood paint wrinkling or unusual smells after shutdown. My vehicle was made in 2023 and has 45k on it. If it was gonna play Johnny Torch and yell, "Flame on !!", it most likely would've by this point.

But when they said "bring it in", I did.

I'll bring mine later this year.

They can check the cam correlation TSB and paint rot while they're at it.

And the update for the key fob learning. I got it saved somewhere.

PS pump passed my inspection though 😄

Retarded...err... I mean Retired
If someone has no issue and just responding to the recall, I can't see why this isn't a have a free coffee while you wait kind of commitment. I've been leaning towards a battery issue and not quite sure why this isn't a priority. Not because I want to be special or anything, but if it really is a recall-related failure, I'd think Stellantis needs to know about it right away.
When I made my appointment I asked if I could wait, and they said, It's better if you drop it off, we don't know how long it will take.

When I was chatting up my service tech about the recall, she said a lot of people lost their minds. She said when it was first released, some customers called, one said he disconnected both batteries, to send out a wrecker, pick up the Jeep and drop a rental off at their house. He didn't care how long the repair takes as long as Jeep gives him a loaner, he didn't want this "bomb" at his house. I said, "That seems a tad.....unreasonable....and paranoid.". So I leaned in, lowered my voice and said in a tone like I was about to hear some juicy gossip, "So...whadja say ?" and pumped my eyebrows up and down. She smiled and said, "I told him Jeep doesn't do that. Bring it in when you get notified.". To which I replied, "And that went over like a fart in church. What next ?". She laughed. "He asked to speak to my supervisor. I transferred him.". Excited as a 13 year old girl, I hopped up and down and clapped my hands and said, "Oooooo !!! He played the Karen Card !! Awesome !!". After a few, I asked, "So......??" She says, "We did NOT do what he asked.".

My favorite words (sometimes) are 'No - but feel free to contact your regional manager'.

Who, often calls me and is like can you help me figure out what we should do about this.

I'm like bro. THAT'S WHY YOU ARE THE REGIONAL.

When I brought mine in, I was told the same thing. They gave me a lift home. About 3 hours later they called, said all was good and was sending a ride-share out to pick me up.

OK, I finally picked up my Jeep yesterday after a week at the dealership. It sat from Monday night last week, when I drove it there with no power steering, until it was looked at this Monday afternoon and completed yesterday morning. The result? A simple software update. I was reading the tech's notes on the invoice and noticed a mention that 'other stores' reporting a communication disconnect with CANBUS but no signs of a physical issue. They did an update, drove it three times and it is now fine. They also pulled and tested both batteries and showed me the printouts that they seem fine as well. This could have been done by even a junior tech first thing in the morning, but it seems triage is a big issue for this dealer.

I did have help directly from a contact at Stellantis. My main concern is that if I was just me, all alone without a point of contact, I am convinced that it would still be sitting in the lot and maybe would be looked at later in the week. For a simple software update and inspection, they would have let me continue renting a car and hoping to get reimbursed for it. I did get them moving yesterday when I received a link from the advisor with 'recommended services'. I lost it. I asked him why my very first communication with him was a text link upselling services, rather than telling me why my steering failed while I was driving the Jeep. After a 'discussion' with the service manager again, it was suddenly going to be ready later in the day - they washed it, replaced the gas they used for test drives and I was due for a oil change, so they did that for free, too. And, Stellantis already issued a check for my rental reimbursement in full.

Am I still nervous and think something else is coming? A little. I have some PTSD from a 2016 Renegade we bought brand new and don't want to make the same kind of mistake twice. But, this is my 8th Chrysler vehicle and only the second to aggravate me to some extent, but I do have to say that corporate has always done good by us on the warranty side and backed me up. The struggle is trying to find a dealer service department run by actual car guys and not salesmen.

Hence the reason they are all now referred to as "technicians", not "mechanics". If the computer screen doesn't tell them exactly what to do; they are lost. A mechanic can fix the problem based on training and experience, damn the computer. A true, worthy mechanic is going the way of the blacksmith; just a memory.

p.s. Apologies about the Renegade, I feel your pain. I had a 2017 Latitude, worst vehicle I've ever owned (and I once owned a PT Cruiser).

In and out in 20 mins today, passed. Still going to look into one of those underhood extinguishers though, nice peace of mind.

I scheduled mine yesterday. They said 2-3 days for diagnosis and if they had to order the part it would be an additional 3-7 days. They did say they had 10 jeeps in and only one needed the part.
