I'm calling my dealership again today...both for the clutch on my 2018 JL and to see if they'll do an auto tranny service on my JT. One thing that gives me confidence is that this dealership (York in Plainfield, IN) has a guy that is VERY good with clutches. He's got a great rep with the Jeepers around here and did a new tranny/clutch in my 2008 JK and set it up perfectly. If he has the parts, he gets it done quickly, too.

Jeep Gladiator Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators 065E4296-0FA4-41D3-8E26-306E7E323194

This shows the parts. It does work better. The peddle feels a little stiffer to me which is ok. Stopped going up my driveway (8% grade) and it is easier to get going again. Will be pulling my dump trailer with a ton of coal putting it close to 4000#,in the next couple of weeks will post how that goes.

So update wife and I went to visit our daughter. On the way home, cross over a rail road track and it sounds like we are dragging something pull over and the drive shaft is hanging down, the carrier bearing bolts fell out, not on the ground but not good. Call the dealer fortunately the service manager was still there, it's after 5pm, he said he will call a tow truck. That's all on them. I probably drove it a total of 40 miles.

what a damn shame that’s what you get from dealers. Accidents happen but seems to be the going rate now.

Oh man, I would be steaming on that wanting my pound of flesh out of them as that could have killed you and wife had it come loose at speed on the highway.

Makes me think what else did the forget to tighten?

I would be inspecting that driveshaft front to back and if chowtered, make them eat it and replace it.

I am glade we were not going fast. It does make me wonder what else they didn't tighten, like the bolts in the clutch that I can't check, the drive shaft I will check when I get it home.

Picked my truck up from the dealer. Service manager said the tech forgot to put loctite on the carrier bearing bolts. Service manager gave me two free oil changes and the tech apologized to me personally. The tech is the only one that does the clutches and has done 15 of them with no problems. They have done work for me before and never had a problem.

Uh yeah that’s a bunch of crap. They didn’t fall out due to loctite. Never put that on a carrier bearing and never had an issue….. Hope you’regood to go.

please don’t take it back for the free oil changes. They are subject to forget tomorrow oil in it or something else get torn up!

Human beings do make mistakes. Even the best of them. Glad it didn't turn out worse.

Just had the recall done today. I will eat some crow, a decent improvement in feel / sound and feels like there might be a heavier flywheel which was my biggest annoyance in the feel.

Posted over in the other thread in the recalls section with some more details and parts sheet if helpful.

Was under my truck to check on the carrier bearing it was fine, but there was grease on the frame at the slip joint. Had one of my free oil changers done and asked the service manager to check on the slip joint. He said the boot is ripped, they have ordered a new drive shaft and will install it at no charge to me. It amazes me that they have to order a drive shaft to get the boot.
