Are they going to replace your sensor with one of the same "incorrectly made" ones or are they telling you to go away until the recall part is available?
Need to go away unitl a fix is found!??!

I wanted a manual because Jeeps should be manual. Then I found out the auto has more gears, gets better gas mileage, and tows more. Ended up getting my first ever jeep with auto transmission. I could care less.

I just don’t understand why folks wouldn’t get the auto
I don't understand why personal preference is a difficult concept. I drove an automatic gladiator for 6 months. I traded it in for a manual because it was boring to me. If it were up to me all the cars i've ever owned would have been manual, from mid sized sedans to sports cars to trucks to luxury full size sedans. Frankly my only hope for the future is that multiple manufacturers have manual transmissions for EV motors in development (stellantis being one of them, both with the Magneto concept and the announcement that their charger and challenger EV replacements will have manuals available with more than 2 gears)

Honestly, I just don’t understand why folks wouldn’t get the auto. It’s the 8-sp automatic that woke this engine up.

I get the manual is cool thing. I had one in my “99 TJ, but mostly to keep some length in the rear driveshaft and the auto back then sucked or to be fair isn’t near the transmission that these ZF’s are.

Off road, in my opinion, autos are just better. Smoother with more control and we won’t talk about what very well might happen if you depress the clutch peddle if fording water. Or deep mud.
Are you serious? People get the manual because they like to drive a manual. Hopefully that clears it up for you.

Your line of thinking is like “I don’t understand why people don’t just get a Prius instead of a Jeep: it’s quieter on the road and gets better gas mileage”. True, but not the same experience is it? You wanted a gladiator and the auto was a good fit for your needs. I wanted a manual mid-size truck. Obviously the auto would not fulfill that need.

(I also have a Prius, so put away your pitchforks).

Getting so tired of the “I don’t understand why someone would like something different from what I like” crowd.

I fully understand the concept of personal preference to a point that it affects performance, reliability and value of a vehicle designed for utility. When it comes to trucks, tow ratings have been reduced due to optioning a standard transmission since at least the 80’s when they started to disappear from the option list. At some point “feelings” lose out, though I understand the nostalgia.

it's even more telling that the manual hater thought the best place to share his hatred was on the thread only about manuals. It's not like he was in the "what did you do today" thread and caught a piece of a tangential conversation. He sought this fight out.

Do do do do do, here's a thread about things i dislike. Should i skip it? Nah, i'll go shit on people for funsies

I honestly don’t understand why someone would buy a mid-size Jeep truck when they can buy a full sized dually with higher tow ratings. /sarcasm

I noticed this occurring recently (have to manually turn on the back up camera and I have rear light pods that I turn on manually when the camera doesn’t pop up) but thought it was an issue with M6 learning procedure, post Tazer install.

Going to revert the tazer back to stock and remove to see if it’s still occurring.

Seems like jeep doesn't want to put MT into their vehicles anymore. I had an 87 YJ and 03 Rubicon, both 5spd and inline 6 (4.2 and 4.0), never any clutch problems and the gearing of both was what you expect for a vehicle driven off road and on road. Not speed demons, but very capable.

I don’t see where you got that I was a manual hater. Just pointing out that autos have come a long way. You sure got your panties in a twist for someone pointing out something’s that may be different than your own opinion, but is based on sound information. If you want to be leave you are saving the world purchasing a Prius or other battery assisted car that’s fine, but don’t disregard the fact that their manufacture process and parts replacement may conflict with your thought process…and just choose to not look at the information available.

Probably because your post wasn’t pertinent to the topic of the thread? A defective gear position sensor could have just as easily been discovered in automatic transmission models (obviously of different design, but same function). So the fact that this recall affects the manual is unrelated to manual/automatic discussion that has been debated to death.

Seriously, you stood up in a crowded room
and said “I’m too small-minded to understand that people might have different likes/cost-benefit assessments than me! I’ve never heard of naive realism and others should only have the same views as me!” And then you’re surprised that people call you on it?

Manual is simpler. And directly a mechanical connection - no silicon or software is required for it to function.

You can add fun/cool onto that, but it's not just that.

That's why I like it at least.
