Should I trade my Tundra to Gladiator?

Traded my 2010 crewmax for the JT, overall pretty happy, I had several JKs before, had the Tundra since new. I am looking forward to 9/19 to see what the new Tundra looks like, may go back if it is really good.

Depends on your use case I suppose. The Glad fits my needs over a full size pick up any day of the week.

I'm baised against toyota and the tundra. Had to drive one for a work truck, hated every second of it. Gladiator is much better. I get 22 mpg high with my overland, the tundra got 12 on a good day. Mind you someone else was paying for gas in the tundra, so that may have had an impact

9/19 is the reveal date, kind of big deal as the current model is 14 years old, the new one is a clear sheet of paper design and hopefully will set the bar the same way the current model did in 2007.

Faster in all categories, its rated at 381 HP. I never found the top speed on my Tundra but I suspect its up around 135 MPH.

I’m a newbie to this forum and first time post in here,
I am thinking to trade my 2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum fully load (135K miles ) to the new Jeep Gladiator Rubi/ Mojave , but it is tough choice and hesitation for me.
1- what do u guys think?
2- how is ur experience with gladiator on highway if compare to Tundra?
3- is it the bad idea to trade tundra to Gladiator plus about $30K on top to get Rubi/Mojave?

This is tough to answer. What is your intended use for the truck? If you tow, you will be happier in your full size.

Rubi/ Mojave? Planning on lifting it and modding it? What kind of off roading will you plan on doing; light, medium, hardcore? You need to understand these things to get the best bang for your buck.


1. I think you should do it, just my opinion.
2. My gladiator drives like a dream on road and off. I wasn't inspired when I drove a tundra.
3. Is the Tundra paid off? Will you still have a note to pay? Its not a bad idea unless you need to have more than 1 vehicle. I didn't trade my challenger off as it was paid off but I hardly drive it now. I have to remember to start it once a week.

To make your decision,I will say that if you want something roomy and "comfortable" then the tundra is for you,but if you really don't mind I'd go with the gladiator,it's a hell of a lot fun and it's a jeep you can never go wrong with a jeep,and hey you can go over rocks and do cool stuff that's fun,also I bet mpg's are better in the jeep, especially the ecodiesel

Also if you use it for towing and simply for towing and doing truck stuff then I'd stick with the the tundra since it's full sized,but you can still tow up to 7k pounds on a jeep gladiator sport max tow,
It all goes down to what you will use it for and how much do you want it,lol

You really have to know (or decide) if you are good with a midsized pickup vs a full size. Personally I used to drive a Dodge Ram 1500, traded it in for Ford Explorer (which I didn't have very long), and got the Gladiator. I loved my Ram, but personally I am much happier with the smaller, mid size pu. The bed is not much shorter, but the interior space is much more limited. That is okay by me, I actually prefer it. Also I fit in the garage a lot better, and it is so much easier to park everywhere I go. One of the things I like best about the Gladiator is that it is narrow. Very easy to navigate, plus it's a friggin blast to drive! I don't need to haul or tow much, so that limitation on the mid size pu doesn't really come into play.

The thing that trumps it all is this... The experience of driving a vehicle with no tops and doors is unparalleled. I cannot describe it effectively, you have to experience it. I was blown away the first time I drove down the road with no doors/top, what an experience!

I traded my 2013 Tundra for the Gladiator. The way I looked at it my driving averages 90% commuting/ around town, 5% long trips, 4% off road, and 1% towing a load that required a full size truck. I don't miss the tundra except on the long trips. The cab (mega cab) was enormous and the v8 (while ridiculously thirsty at 10mpg average) made the high speeds effortless. For me it wasn't worth hanging on to the Toyota for such a limited amount of my actual use. YMMV

BOTH ha, the 5.7 is a fun to drive engine, particularly with a pedal commander..... loved it in my two Tundras, biggest thing I miss in the Gladiator.

It just guzzles gas like crazy ha.
