So i guess this confirms that ROW Jeep Gladiators still get the GPEC2... why.

Could be tunes, emissions, laws, who knows.
Why was there a mix in this country last year?
For a while we were comparing PCMs in one thread - some got 2a, some got 5, same model year.

Laws and rules are different out there - but then here I am speculating

I think the correlation was related to A/T v. M/T. At least that was my observation. I have a 22 w/ A/T and the 5.

I was wondering: Is it possible to purchase an older ecu and have that unlocked and then install with supercharger? The engine and transmission are the same. Or is there another component involved?
Thanks

Wiring/connectors very different. Doesn't matter that engine and transmission are the same. The harness is different.

Hardware plus there’s apparently a whole security lockout unless the VIN matches, and there was question of whether the VIN could be overwritten.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but how could the wiring be different? They have to be able to integrate into current production, which means the same connections. Security prevents changing thru security gate but not in hardware. As long as security acknowledges vin it should accept settings in unit, right?
Sorry, just my 2 cents worth. I want a supercharger, too!

the connectors on the ecu are completely different. i suppose you could cut the connectors off or depin all wires....get the gpec2 versions, and then repin wire for wire?

yeah....have fun with that.....

Nope, very very different wiring harnesses. They know which build would get which PCM and so they get the correct harness and so on to match.

Maybe you missed my post here showing the very obvious differences??
I've read somewhere that there are other differences in functions that mean you can't easily swap out the connectors and make it work - but I can't recall where I saw that. It was on a RAM forum I believe......... somewhere someone had dug into the pin-outs of each and found things didn't match exactly 1 for 1.
The PCM itself has security in it - the gateway isn't even really related to that, it's a different purpose and isn't part of why you can't easily just swap PCMs.
The SGW prevents easy changes to the BCM, ABS and other functions so someone can't just pop a device on the OBD port and take over the vehicle while you drive. (or even using other methods). It's not about the PCM security. The SGW is more of a firewall in a way. The PCM is self-protected, encrypted.

Here's my post since you likely didn't read back -

I did see your diagram, however I didn’t realize that the connectors were different! I figured they had just replaced the ecu vs rewire the entire vehicle! That is a bummer
