I have my truck back as of this morning.
Anyone want to bet the over/under on how long it lasts this time?

I am guessing 6 days.
ASS light came on almost instantly when leaving work. Maybe 4 days...

Hi, I believe they adjusted the sensitivity of the CEL during the software upgrade without really addressing the root cause of the problem. Furthermore, the ASS light is still coming on as a result of actual misfires because, as I understand things, it is programmed to disengage when a misfire is detected. In my case, that is exactly what was happening. Also, the computer was throwing a PO300 and classifying it as a “pending” code that goes away if it does not reoccur on the next start up. When taking mine in to the dealership the latest time, the ASS light had come on when leaving the house for the dealership. I had the dealership read the codes with the engine running upon my arrival, and BINGO, it had registered a “pending” PO300 misfire code. Upon further investigation, they determined the compression is low on cylinders 2, 4 and 6. They are waiting on guidance from FCA on next steps.

I bought the vehicle in early May and, at this point, I have lost count of the cumulative days in the shop. Also, as a point of reference, the manufacture date is late November 2019. This is certainly not the new car experience that one would expect...

That makes total sense.
I remember every time I have gotten the CEL and it follows the pattern. I believe the one time I shut off the engine to see if the ASS would go away and boom, there it was. I will be sure to take mine in immediately next time I get the ASS and have them check the codes.

Thank you!

Reporting in after nearly 1k miles since my 5th ESS light and first CEL light.

I turn off the AS/S feature (manually) at startup, and no lights have occurred at all for 1k miles—no ESS, no CEL.

Wish I had the fancy AS/S memory that one of y'all mentioned, but turning it off manually is a minor inconvenience to keep me on the road (and beach).

They replaced my engine yesterday. There are hundreds of Gladiators with the the damaged cylinder walls. Tell your dealer to check into it. Left bank is not holding compression. I feel Jeep is stalling on TSB or recall.

That’s interesting. Mine (#2) has the same build date as my first-Dec 2019. It has about 1200 miles and no lights yet but I thought I heard that same ticking that I heard in the first Gladiator I owned. I might just be paranoid or-if the cylinder walls are bad-maybe it’s just waiting to have a problem. I wonder if they are stalling on a recall because there’s no real way to fix this without an engine replacement. If it is a mechanical problem then no software update is going to fix an improperly manufactured cylinder wall. That’s just a cover up to a major manufacturing SNAFU.

Has this been narrowed down to manufacture dates yet? I didn't read all 51 pages to see...........
If it was a manufacturing, a machining issue, then they know exactly the dates it happened and when they resolved it and should know the VINs involved. ISO companies have to track every detail in detail.

well... that would be the logical and ethical thing to do if that were the case. However, that’s costly and most likely won’t happen. They’ll let this drag on and deal with it on a case by case basis.

Totally dragging their feet and have given up on any form of customer service. I bought my Gladiator in november. The first p0300 happened before I hit 400 miles. My vehicle has been at the dealership since june 4th..the dealership, jeep,FCA and @@JeepCares refused to work with me. Their idea of resolving the issue was offering me an extended warranty and two months of payments. My jeep has been at the dealership the entire summer and that is their offer? I had to get legal representation which is utterly ridiculous considering how long this has been ongoing. This is my 3rd jeep in a row..I never saw myself owning anything but a jeep. After how terribly they have handled this and treated me I'm never going back. How do you have a vehicle for 3 months, are completely unable to fix it and not offer a buyback or exchange. I know everyone here is a jeep fan...but if they are going to treat their base like this it's time to walk away.

Bummer. I am in the same boat at the beginning of the process. Going in circles between the service department and FCA...no one wants to deal with the issue. First P0300 at around 300 miles, total of 5 Check engine lights - Three P0300 codes and now a P0300. This is also my third Jeep....I wish I had my plain Jane 2013 Wrangler Sport. I am so disappointed.

Sorry to hear that. It seems the way they are handling most cases (including yours) is utterly ridiculous. What you got offered is down right insulting.

I’m working on CEL number two for the same issues. My Jeep has been at the dealer for a week and FCA just now replied to the dealership after they sent cold start data on Tuesday. Jeep is requesting them to pull all the plugs and check for oil on them, run some more tests and submit data. I’m trying to be positive, but I’m not too hopeful here.

No codes, no misses, no issues engine-wise so far, 8500 miles. Mine was bought November 15 but more importantly, it was BUILT the week before. So the build date is the second week of November, likely the engine was just before that (used to be an engine was built a week or two before the vehicle, now it's likely closer)
Since these engines don't sit stacked in crates for 3 or 4 weeks or more before the vehicle was built and because there are dates cast on all major parts, they KNOW already which engines have issues. They know exactly when your engine was built -the date, day, the shift, in some cases, maybe the hour it was machined. So it's not a matter of "that's too much work" - they have that information already, it EXISTS. They can't NOT have it because they are an ISO certified company AND they have to comply with federal regs. So it's not work, it's a matter of sitting down, pressing a button and finding all vehicles made between certain dates - eve hours on certain dates, what line they came off of and more.
Heck, I can look up the numbers on my 73 AMC and tell you the LINE it was made, the sequence number and more - and every piece of sheet metal has a date stamped on it. That was almost 50 freakin' years ago - nope, Jeep knows exactly who owns the trucks with the bad blocks. It's not work, it's already in the computers. Print a report - it's that simple.

But MY question is - for the good of the JT owners here - has "the forum" narrowed down the build dates of those who are having issues? Not when it was bought, but when it was built (mine I KNOW was built the very week before I gave the dealer my check for the full amount)
