Hey everyone! New to the threads and new to Jeep. Rolled 1000 miles and that damn check engine light came on and asking to service the start/stop. Confirmed with my dealer today that it was multiple cylinder misfires and was put on a list for a courtesy car while they dig into it. Cannot believe this is happening with a new 60k truck, I am devastated. Hopefully, it will get worked out. Left them the TSB on the steering as well, which they are going to look into for me. Curious as to if anyone has had this completely resolved. (I have not had time to read through the 70 pages yet)

Build date: MDH 071010 (2020 Mojave)
Mileage when it first occurred: 1010
How many times has it occurred: 1
What exact codes did it throw: Multiple Cylinder misfire
Is the issue on going? Y
If so, what has been done to try to solve the issue?
Was the issue ever fully resolved?
Oh no! You're July 10th... and the TSB they have listed only applies to July 9th and previous... so they clearly have no idea what is going on yet. :/

New to this thread.... bought a gladiator 2 weeks ago and the 2nd day i had it the CEL came one. I also have been getting the ESS light on and off throughout the 2 weeks. Brought it into the dealership and had the PCM flash done. 2 days later CEL and ESS back on again. Has anyone found a real resolution to the problem? Also, can anyone give advice on record keeping in case I go the lemon law route?

The most important thing is keeping a log of the date and mileage when the light comes on. I also detail conditions when the malfunction light(s) came on, like engine warm, cold, MPH and RPM. At the very least (in theory) it will help the diagnosis. If you do pursue the legal route, having detailed records (including gasoline purchases), always makes your case stronger.

My log has 14 entries and counting....

Yea I saw that. I really hope they can figure this out. I don't want to give this Jeep up, it's my dream build and color.

Wow, this is later than mine. I wonder if you are the latest build to date to have this happen? I am curious about what they do for us since the TSB is out of our build date range. I have Jeep Cares involved as well. Hopefully this all gets worked out!

I see a lot of build date information - is there any correlative analysis on that yet ? (hopefully dont have to go back through 72 pages of data to find that and very curious)

Alright, long time lurker and first time poster!

————————————————————————————————————

Here are my details on the CEL - P0300 problem I’m dealing with.
  • 2020 Gladiator Rubicon
  • Build date:
    • 10.26.19 - 11PM (via MDH code)
  • Purchased
    • 12.20.20
  • Engine build country:
    • Mexico (per window sticker)
  • Mileage when it first occurred:
    • ~ 5300 miles (Early June 2020)
  • How many times has it occurred:
    • 4 times w/ CEL
    • ESS light has been on at least 25 days over the past 4 months
  • Is the issue on going?
    • Y
  • If so, what has been done to try to solve the issue?
    • first service appointment, I cancelled because the light went off on its own and I thought it was a loose gas cap
    • second service appointment, I received a PCM code update (issue re-appeared a few days later)
    • third service appointment they could not replicate issue and told me it was because my engine was dirty (to be fair, I hit some mud on a trail and the engine bay was pretty muddy …. Although I know without a doubt that that did not cause it.
    • fourth service appointment is later this week, walking in with the updated service bulletin I pulled from another comment in this thread. Also going in for service diff light, I suspect I got some water in the front diff breather tube … but we’ll see how that complicates things as well.
  • Was the issue ever fully resolved?
    • N
Initiated a Jeep Wave / Jeep Cares case early on in the process, been difficult to get in touch with the agent … tried again today so hopefully I can get some air cover from them on what’s best to resolve it.

————————————————————————————————————

Like many folks, I’m stuck at home … so most of my driving is short runs 1-2 times a day. Seems like the lights are more consistent when the Jeep has been sitting at home, cold starts … versus a few road trips recently where the Jeep was parked outside or run for longer periods of time.
————————————————————————————————————

09.18.20 - Update

After not hearing back from my dealer for almost 2 weeks, they finally called me.

Sounds like they are replacing both my axels for the service diff light. Expected arrival for the axels is first week of November.

They are going to replace O2 sensors (3 of them?) for the CEL / Start Stop Light.

I haven't received paperwork, this was verbally shared with me via a service advisor and at this point I don't actually trust what they say until it's on paper.

Thought I would share since I haven't seen anyone call out an O2 sensor, who knows if they actually do it ... or if does anything to resolve the CEL / Start Stop Light we've all been getting.

I've gone over 30 days without my Gladiator. Dealer unable to solve, and is going to try to get engine replacement approval. I've been in contact with FCA, and they cannot give me a get well date. I'm really unpleased and feel extremely let down by a brand that I've stuck with. This is the 7th Jeep that I've bought new. Feeling like Jeep doesn't want to make it right. Seriously having doubts that I'll stick with this brand. I really don't want it back if it requires a new engine, as it'll never really be the same. I'd prefer to swap or just get my money back. Anyone have any luck with a swap out?

Once they know your Lemon law case is bulletproof, they will refer you to the requisition team. My replacement is on order and is 300 less that what I am replacing with all the options the same plus a tonneau cover. They base everything on your msrp.

I have not received my offer yet but this part of the process has been better than previous. I have put more miles on my rental than the gladiator at this point.

This is very helpful. I know my state's Lemon Law and it's a solid case. Do you suggest I actually start the case or just work with my FCA agent? Thanks again. Glad to have forums like this.

So I’m at day 35 out of service. Spoke to the service manager this evening and he said they adjusted the timing and adjusted the cam starting degree then performed an ECU adaptive relearn. They have put about 75 additional miles on it and no misfires yet. Has anyone else had this done as a “fix” ?

Working with FCA will be less of a headache
