Maybe. But they’ll still be collapsing if they’re not the right spring rate. The true HD’s look like they’re all linear.
That's true. The only reason I said that is because if you look at the model numbers, that's what Metalcloak does. I figured Clayton may do the same thing since both the 3.5" lift springs and the HD springs are triple rate. I just assumed they were a little longer. And you know how assumptions go.

But, i looked at Clayton's site and didn't even see a 4.5" lift. And the one thing that I didn't consider was the rate of the springs which are most likely completely different that the regular ones making them able to handle more weight without sag.

Nice! Thanks for that. The only issue I have with AEV is I need to buy all 4. My front end is fine 🙃

Yup, that would be an investment. I found mine on amazon for $550 on sale so got lucky there. I also frankensteined the whole lift since all the research I did on coils from metalcloak or clayton wouldn't work to well for my application.

Yep. I can do a TF 4.5 but fully expect it to be a failure. Clayton is a maybe at 3.5” but triple rate. The others are 3” but linear and crazy rates. Aev 400-700 and dobinsons 400-650 and 800-1200 or something - for massive builds.

Clearly not the solution. This is as temporary as possible. Looking into Clayton (but they appear to be the same 400lb rating as TF Outback but with a third progressive zone), AEV and Dobinsons (both linear). I’m hoping the next set of coils I purchase is the last. A little curious about the progressive vs linear, since the Teraflex lift has 16” of action in the rear that I might not see with a linear coil.…
So is your concern flexing the spring out of the seat?

Not really. When it’s setup properly there are retainers to hold the coil at the top and bottom. With the thick spacer there it’s still not in place.

For what you have AEV or Claton overland springs are the thing.

Call them both Monday see if they will sell ya just rears?

There are companies that make springs I’m sure with some googlefu you can find them.

It is Billie Bars. They are very modular with a lot of accessories you can choose from. I am able to run my best top cover with these.

Best part is I can easily remove the tent by myself so I don’t have to haul it all the time.

Clayton will sell you the rears by their self. When I Frankensteined my lift. I have Clayton 2.5" springs in the front with the adjustable JKS spring seats, and their 3.5" springs in the rear.

Clayton’s HD are 400lb just like the TF Outback’s that don’t work for me. Only diff is Clayton is triple rate. TF is dual. Unless that mid zone on the Clayton’s makes a diff. Unsure.

I was just on the phone with Teraflex, they said their outback springs are triple rate but they just don't list the primary rate since it will compress right down with the vehicle weight (just what I was told).

Wondering what didn't work for you with the teralfex 3.5 outback? Too high a rate? Do you have much added weight in the back?

i ended up using some 4.5" rock krawler springs for my back to fix the saggy rear with cap and tools in there. The added length just adds a little more preload. Using spacers will do the same thing.

I think you will be hard pressed to find some HD springs in the length and rate you desire. That leaves air bags and longer springs or spacers (more preload) to get you where you want to be.

Definitely no triple rate labelled on the coil.

I guess too much weight, as it squats badly without a spacer of any sort in there. if you include the weight of the spare, smartcap (stainless rather than aluminum), Bedslide and a 69quart fridge it adds up. Certainly nothing outrageous for an overland rig - I don’t even have a tent on top.

Im just waiting for some 3” AEV HD Linear coils to land on my doorstep to see how they behave. I had OME HD’s on my Wrangler that held everything up well. Will just have to make sure retainer clips are used so they don’t pop out under extension.

With air bags in them the EVO' 4.5" rear diesel springs I have are workable with a heavy load, but you really need to push the airbags to the limit. Hence I am looking for a spring with a higher rate so I can bring the pressure down in them. I've dropped the rear end to test and they won't come near unseated before the trackbar is binding and the shocks are at full extension.

Does your load vary a lot, airbags could help in that instance and allow you to fine tune your spring rate, as you add more air they pressout on the spring and increase the spring rate.

Check out the Rockkrawler rear lower spring correction wedges. Not on their website but they have them last I talked to them. They add quite a bit of height as they are thick, have a large center bump to retain the coil and get the springs nice and straight which I would think helps with maintaining the spring rate. Helps when you rotate the pinion back to get a good angle for the drive shaft.
