For me a couple things came into mind.

I really wanted an Overland over other trims. I know most ppl prefer their Rubi's etc and no offense to those who've got it like that. But I dont. I also couldn't justify the extra 8-9k on a rubi especially that's not even considering all the creature comforts and packages my Overland has. There literally isn't an option mine doesnt have. So I'd much rather have my loaded Overland than a Rubi with cloth seats, plastic fenders, and halogens etc. Especially considering I live in the city and only wheel on occasion. Lockers and disconnects arent that important to me

With that said I have to deal with the 3.73 gears of the Overland. Overall I'm cool with it but that kinda keeps me within the 35s I have. Do I like 37s absolutely. They look awesome. But I'd rather not regear. At least not anytime soon.

However, I'm definitely not discontent with 35s. Although mine techincally isnt a "daily driver" considering my profession, as I said, I do live in the city and prefer road comfort (not that it can;t be accomplished with a 37, but just easier with 35s).

We all read the tire size threads...Bigger is better, 37's are the new 33/35's, 35's look too small, etc. Without getting into a battle, Im very interested to know people's individual thoughts on how they came to decide on tire size. Did warranty come into play? Daily driver? The extra expense of going larger (re-gear)? You like the look of a smaller or larger tire...
I am the outlier and happy. Keeping stock 245/75/17 on my sport s max tow (4.10). Will though eventually change to some Nitto as far as brand.

First it is a DD, second it will tow so going bigger adds weight towards hitting the GVWR and changes the dynamics some and we dont want to do that. The stock gives me a great drive and awesome mpg around 21.

Our off-roading is mostly trails and towing on trails. So we have no desire to go bigger. Jeep made the Sport S Max Tow perfect for DD and towing so we have no reason to mess with it regardless if anyone laughs!

All i want to know is if you are running a slightly large tire for your gears like lets say 35s on the 3.73 or the 37s on the 4.10s are you hurting your transmission or just running at less than optimal ability? Not many people really chime in on if they think its bad for their Jeep to be running at high RPMs up hill or having to give extra power from the dead stop.

I would love to go with 35's or even 37's but that won't be happening until I can re-gear, which may be a very long time. Until then I'll get by with 33's when I go with new tires.

If my gladiator was my only vehicle I would probably have stayed with the factory 33s. I noticed shifting changes especially with cruise control once I swapped to 35s. Gas mileage didn’t take a very large hit though like I expected. I would prefer 37s for the look but I don’t think I can justify it until I can do a regear as well. I just don’t see the 4.10 riding like I would want on the freeway on larger tires than the 35s

Most will agree you could get away with 35s and see hardly any difference other than MPG which is expected regardless and is minimal. I went from stock to 35s and hardly see any difference. Maybe thats just me. Now 37s thats another story.

I knew I wanted 37’s when I purchased and went with KO2’s and Mopar lift. With the diesel, it doesn’t even know they are there. The most unlike Jeep I have owned based on speed, comfort, and quietness. Plus the JFO approved the purchase so why not?

As a manual driver, 35s on 4.10s has been marginally acceptable, but it does feel like going larger without a regear would be ill advised. I was part of the kenda $80.44 35s club, so my original plan was 35s until they wear out, then 37s. Having driven on 35s... I will not go up a size unless I'm willing to commit to regearing (and aev2" with geo correction and trackbars)

I know people who swear 35s on 3.73s is fine, and 37s on 4.10s is fine... but I dunno man.
Agree. I'm an automatic 4.10 Mojave, love the look and increased clearance 37s would have. But ultimately decided on 35s. Reset tire size and still notice I don't get into 8th much even in the 55/60 mph area on flat and no wind. Do I notice it if I'm not looking at the indicator or tach? Probably not, but I see the mpg already taking a hit so I'm not sure how these guys on 37s and 4.10 are doing it. I'd love 37s but did not want the extra hassle and cost and possible problems of lift. But 37s with aev lift and geometry correction and a regear would be perfect. The 35s with the extra 26mm of wheel bump out makes the truck look better than the 33 stock. I went with the same falken tire but in 35 and 12.5 width. So it is heavy but I really like the look and performance (wet, dry, rocks, sand, noise) of the falken wild peaks at.

The other bonus of staying with 33s is the constant supply of factory takeoffs with very low miles for very low dollars. ?

Im with you brotha.

I went larger at first, then went back to a more stock size. I now run 255/75/17 and am as happy as can be. 21-22mpg normal driving, and i can pull a big ol’ trailer with the slightly stronger tires and never worry.

Heres where I decided to go back to more stock

2020 JTmt
2in IRO lift
Rubi 17in rims
255/75/17 Bridgestone Dueler ATs (bronco take offs)

The take offs are rated 115T, as apposed to the stockers which are either 112T or 113T.

Is the 20-22mpg city or freeway? My sport s is starting at 15.5 i know its not broke in yet but that would be cool if it got to 20-22. Mojave is broke in and stays at like 14-15mpg

When I had the stock tires and rims I saw that kind of gas mileage but when I swapped out to Rubicon Take off A/T tires and rims my MPG dropped to average of 17-18 mpg. In the 2 years I have had the tires and rims I have never seen better than that unless I go on a long highway trip and drive like 60 MPH the whole way.

I do a good amount of highway driving. But that is my overall average. I get 18-20 around town depending on how I accelerate and how far i drive. The lighter, smaller, tires made a huge difference.

Have you adjusted your speedometer for the change in tire size?
