A bigger question for @JeepCares is why do we still have an open recall after it was issued nearly a year ago and they still haven’t produced the replacement parts?
JeepCares does not get into the weeds on those types of questions directly.

Yeah, I know that, but they really should be more transparent on things.

Well, it’s been a month and a day. Miss my Gladiator. Have had a Tacoma and now a 4Runner rental. Meh.

I‘m usually a pretty laid back guy but reading all these different post had me worried. With a Recall is there a TSB technical service bulletin that goes with it? I’d like to know all the steps Jeep will test, measure and repair/replace the HPFP to ensure their aren’t any other internal damages to be worried about Now and down the line.

Anyone know of one they can share?

It’s like a vehicle in an accident that was repaired. It’s never quite the same.

That’s the issue. There is a TSB but there’s no documented solution and the expected date of one keeps sliding further out.

Does anyone have the TSB? I thought at one point the fix was to replace with the same fuel pump. I was wondering what the write up says about checking and changing the the oil, clean out the fuel tank and lines, and what ever else they need to do.

My dealer still says it will be a software fix; however, they are having trouble getting approval from the EPA. They have sign-off from Bosch, but EPA is dragging their feet, that is just what I was told from my service guy.

They are just going to turn off CPC and PCV modes let MPROP control do its thing.

I spent about 45 mins on the phone with Jeep Cares today. I finally got to a person that read me the company tagline. After some standard markup about dealers will be notified via whatever recall system blah blah....we expect to release the recall fix sometime Q3. I don't know how reliable this is, but this is what a frustrated Jeep cares call center person read to me off whatever screen she was staring at

An update to my HPFP failure and it’s repair.

I received a call from the dealership that my JT is repaired and ready for pickup tomorrow morning. When I get the paperwork I will post the relevant information.

I’m happy to get my truck back. I’ve missed having the top off for the summer so far.

Just a curious mind here. We all talks about breaking in engine and stuffs, but how about hpfp break-in ?? It's mechanical and works similar to a valvetrain with spring loaded pistons riding on a cam lobe.

In my scenario, i hoped on the interstate and drove straight home from the dealer with one fuel stop. About 500 total miles. No pump issues yet at 23k miles, but i got paranoid recently and started using additives in last few tanks.

Another update to my HPFP failure and replacement.
IMG_6401.jpeg

New injectors
New pump
New fuel rails
New fuel lines
New filter

This paperwork doesn’t show labor and parts cost. However, I did look at the dealer paperwork that showed their cost. Oh my.

I had them change the oil and filter while it was there( died on June 27th and received it back on August 3rd). They had my truck a total of 38 days.

I did receive the truck back with it still throwing a code. That code is most likely due to my AFE intake. I plan on uninstalling that intake tomorrow anyways as I have ordered the AEV dorkel. Hopefully, fingers crossed, reverting back to the stock intake will eliminate that last code. If it doesn’t, I’m sure the dealership will resolve it for me.

Overall, my dealership experience has been pretty good. My service advisor( Charles at Walnut Creek Jeep) was excellent and kept me in the loop for all the important developments. I would highly recommend him.

As for having the truck back, I am happy with it. it’s too early to tell if the performance has changed in anyway. I can only hope that they resolve the recall soon and that I don’t have to post anything about it otherwise from here on out.
Ok, I’ve driven the truck all day for work and the check engine light came on after about 75 miles since picking it up from the dealership. The code being presented is the CCV code the intake has thrown before. I plan on swapping the AFE intake out tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully, it won’t return with the stock intake back on.
This was posted in my build thread, but, I figured it was relevant to this thread as well.

Thanks for the update @Anderson . I just got a text from my service manager saying the parts will be coming in this month. Curious though, are they just replacing with the same HPFP?

Sometimes things work out. I am happy this worked out for you. I have not had trouble with my JTRD HPFP but the unresolved recall weighs heavy on my mind.

From what my service advisor tells me, the replacement parts to “fix” the CP4 failures are still not available. My new pump is still fallible. .

? Well at least you can still enjoy your truck this summer. Keep us posted on any performance differences and fuel mileage.
