since no one answered i think youll probably get about 18 mpg with a rubi. that number is a total guesstimate but where many people end up.

the aero on this car is so bad speed greatly impacts MPG so numbers are all over the place

Unless you're hell-bent on a MT, I'd reconsider. Mine's a manual and I've owned about a half-dozen in my life-- this is the most janky manual I've owned. I'm not worried about the recall or my truck burning up, but my next mod will likely be one of the aftermarket clutches due to function. If that doesn't significantly improve the experience, I'll look to move into something else in a few years. I know I'm going to get roasted by MT fans here, but that's where I'm at.

1st gear from a stop requires a feather touch to find the sweet spot, but you're often over-revving or stalling. The switch to 2nd brings with it a lurch I've not experienced before. The rest of the gears are very smooth.

Thanks all!
Been reading the forum for information.
Truck bed- need it more than the rubicon package
I just need 4wd actually.
Will look at 2023s for sure. Like I said, I’m not paying crazy interest.
My ranger is fine, just always wanted to try a jeep.

Manual trans - i will consider the auto for sure.

Have a 2020, from F-150's and F-250's. Shocked how much I love this truck. Good tidings to your choice!

There are a lot of different models of Gladiators. I believe, as others, that the Rubicon would be a waste for you as you won't need lockers, sway bar disconnect, etc. The Mojave, like the Rubicon, comes with 33" tires and 4.10 rear. Neither of those models will give you max towing, if that is important. You're on the right track looking for a '23 with all of the leftovers on lots. I love Jeeps and have a Wrangler Rubicon and a Gladiator Mojave. The Mojave, to me, rides and drives better than either of my JLs have.

The auto is a really good auto. If you're itching to try a Jeep, the Mojave is a good start. One thing to ask yourself is will you leave it stock, or modify it. If you want to upgrade, you may want to start with one that will give you 4:10 gears as you can run 35s easily with them (and many will run 37s).

I have a 2020 Sport S auto, 80K trouble free miles. Normal driving I get 18, on the highway 20, pulling my boat 21 Ft center console 16mpg. Death wobble occurs on lifted trucks, had it on my 05 TJ with a 4" lift. Checked the tork on the fount end replaced the steering stabilator and it went away. I really like my Gladiator its my every day drive and its so much fun .

2020 Overland,\, bought in 2019, wanted side steps as I often drive elderly folks around.

No issues.

Surprised on how much I love it.

Automatic as I tow from time to time.

After reading the sensitivity of the clutch, and the over heating issue, auto was the way for me to go.

Good luck on your decision!

If you say Gladiator or wrangler...then one question...do you use a truck bed? If yes...go with Gladiator. When you say "Rubicon" will do all you need....it is not possible to make a more capable truck out of the box with the exception of larger tires...which is also very easy to do. As far as 4wd system, there isn't a better one.

Death wobble, happens with bad lifts or loose ends.

Always fixable, just got to find it. Highly unlikely to have it if you keep it stock.

I've had several Tacoma's, tundras etc. Jeeps just always make my heart happier, more fun. Period.

One thing I can say is, from reading and talking to lots of people about Jeeps. It's kind of in your blood, or it isn't.
The only way to find out is to try it. If you love it, welcome to the family. If you don't, no harm, no foul. Either way, enjoy the ride.
I was thinking about this quote today while out for a drive.

I had a CJ7 for a few years and did a lot of work to it, I loved that thing. I went without a Jeep for several years, then bought my JKR 7 years ago and have never been so happy with a vehicle. I'm really happy with my new Gladiator, it remains to be seen if it can replace my JK as my most favorite vehicle ever.

I don't know what it is about Jeeps, I'm happiest driving them.

Greetings,

I hate these posts! Thinking about moving to a Gladiator or Wrangler 4 door from my Ranger. No issues with the truck, have just always wanted to try a Jeep.

Looking at used 2021-2023 unless I can find a good deal on a 23. If I can't find decent interest rate, I'll just hold off.
Leaning towards the Gladiator to still have a truck bed.
Would like a Rubicon and a 6 speed manual. I don't really off road, so the Rubicon would do all I need.
Mods - none as this would be my daily driver. With that what is an average MPG I can plan on with the gas engine and 6 spd?

Clutch is still an issue, from what I've read here?
Death Wobble - any threads you can point me to that I should read? Is this DW something effecting all years?
Towing maybe a tiny trailer say 5x10 to haul things or a small camper, like this:

Any big changes between model years 21 to 23, I should look for?

Thanks all!
Deals can certainly be had on the Gladiator right now. Seek out 15% off msrp. That is how I got mine 3 months ago and they are still doing the same deal. Others are right, you will off road lol! They are great. Loving mine. Been elk and deer hunting and up to 12k in elevation for a day trip with the fam (not all at the same time…). Have towed a 4k lb camper on numerous occasions. It’s no Ram 3500 diesel, but does fine and a heck of a lot more fun once you reach your destination and unhook from rv!

I've had my JT for over 3 years now. My first Jeep and I love it. I don't normally keep a vehicle this long but this one has my heart. You will want to test drive the manual and the auto back to back. I was surprised at how little power the manual had. I don't know if it's just the gearing or, more likely, the motor being torque limited to protect the transmission.

I went with a sport S Max Tow. I've never needed the Rubicon's lockers or disconnects. You might be surprised at how good the crawl mode is combined with the limited slip rear of the Max Tow. I've gone up 30* inclines without spinning a tire that other trucks needed a "full send" to get up.

My fuel mileage is horrible. 15 on the interstate. 13 towing an open car trailer. I've never seen 18+. Never. The thing is a shoe box and gets blowed around on the highway if it's windy. Keeps you awake for sure. I don't care. I still love it.

Congrats on the new Gladiator! I saw you often on the jlwranglerforums and thought when you sold your Sahara and got a Mini you were tapped out of Jeep. You came back really quickly!

Coincidentally, I also just bought myself a JTM. Deals were really good (if one can say that with straight face knowing full well that vehicles are non-cash generating and rapidly depreciating assets). See you around both here and there.

If you like the open air experience then you'll love the Gladiator compared to other trucks (I came from a Colorado).

It's fun to just put the top back on a warm day, and no other truck lets you do that.

Hello, I'm new here and your post caught my eye. I just purchased a '22 Gladiator Rubicon. This makes my 10th Jeep in my life. I've had a couple CJ-7's, a couple TJ's, a couple Cherokees and some others, including a manual JK. That was my one and only manual in a Jeep and I hope to be my last. I hated that thing. I have driven a couple Unlimiteds and they ride great. In fact I might prefer the ride of it over my Gladiator. But for me personally the Gladiator fits perfectly (except for the MPG).
